I'd guess Nyatanga. The others are either too expensive or will be deemed not good enough - watch Keef pick half of them up on the cheap.
To be honest, the only one of the senior out of contract players that I'd offer a new one to would be Nyatanga. The others aren't good enough or, in the case of Cranie, too expensive. But I'd also be looking to get shut of a couple of players who are in contract too, namely Jennings and Lalkovic. I'd then be looking to get the best out of, and base the team around, the kids coming out of the Academy, along with the young players like Davies, Scowan, Winnall, Hourihane and Berry. Then, instead of splashing money on loan players and gambles, invest in 3 or 4 quality players to help bring on the youngsters. We need a centre back partner for Nyatanga, a strike partner for Winnall and then a couple of midfielders. Johnson has made a thing about being a head coach, rather than a manager, and we have enough young players with the potential to be very good players with good coaching, so lets see him put his money where his mouth is and develop these players. In Bree, Holgate, Smith, Abbott, Digby (unless we've given up on him), Nana, Oates and Maris we have half a team that are homegrown. With the other youngsters we've brought in he has plenty to work with. He also needs to look at developing Hourihane into playing in the kind of role that Brian Howard used to play for us, because that's where we've been lacking. Of the loanees we've had in this season I'd be trying to bring O'Sullivan, Pearson and Williams in on either permanent deals or season long loans. I'd then like to see them leave the loan system alone and just use it for actual emergencies.
I don't know whether I'd place any confidence into the accuracy of reports emanating from the Sheffield Star.
The report seems to have been written by a YTS. When the author writes scowering, does he mean scouring. This is just stuff dashed out by junior reporters to attract readers in order to prove to advertisers that they should use their site. The great majority of it is nonsense.
If true it's obviously going to be Nyatanga. He's on course for half a century of games this season, was picked over Cranie to partner Holgate and unlike Cranie he's made it obvious in the press he wants to stay.
Couldn't agree more...but sadly the Rent a Gob Mob won't have the patience for this to happen. A few poor performances and results will have them moaning and searching for scapegoats...and the familiar cycle of loans and sackings will begin again. Waste of feckin time.
