    The royal family costs 56p per year to each taxpayer, so it's hardly an undue burden. I don't agree with having a royal family for a number of reasons but financial considerations are the least of that.

    I'd hope that a nation with a long history of Socialism would reject nationalism and think what effect another Tory Government will have on your English brothers and sisters...

    I still dinna see the problem here. Labour with around 50% of the English vote and SNP with almost 100% of the Scottish vote together would kick the Tories into touch. Mr Miliband refusing to recognise the Scottish electorate and their preference of who as a nation they vote for is IMO the real problem.

    The choice will be SNP/Labour = Government or No SNP/Labour =Tory Government.

    As you all said in September, "Better together"

    At 56p each would equate to about 36 million per year to keep this dysfunctional family, money that could be well spent on the NHS? It's an outdated institution that needs abolishing. It's had its day and their support appears to be diminishing by the year, and hey who's next in line? That pompous uneducated fool Charlie and queen Camila. But the very bad news is that this will be on the news for the next 3 days or so. God shave the Queen, shave her nice and clean....

    Scrap the monarchy for what? A President like Blair (who has made £150 million in office) and would be unlikely to keep out of national politics. Or maybe a President Milliband would suit you.

    I'd agree with you Ian if it was guaranteed to be 'better together', for a labour/snp coalition to work together for the best interests of everyone in Britain. But would it be that? Or would it be the snp part making sure they do what's best for Scotland only?
