I think we are getting confused here, the monarchy has absolutely no power in government since Chales 1. The French had the right idea a couple of hundred years ago, as did Oliver. (Btw that's a joke)

Don't you think that Labour would be interested in Scotland? I do, they are fighting for votes there. Whereas SNP, just by their very name, are for Scotland, and the fact they wanted to leave the union suggests it wouldn't be Labour rocking the boat so to speak.

I hope I'm being overly cynical though as I see that coalition as very possible, and of the possibilities one of the more palatable provided its as I've said.

The thing is 55% of Scots voted to remain in the Union but it looks as if many of them will vote for the SNP in this election. You have to ask WHY?

It can't be though patriotism to Scotland otherwise the Independence election would possibly have went the other way. So for some reason the Scottish public have turned their back on Labour.

My own opinion is Labour is powered by Labour in London where as the SNP is Scottish based and possibly appear to the Scottish voter to give Scots a better deal. Nicola has certainly been given the nod here to be the person to speak for Scotland.

Cut off your nose to spite your face approach. Daft to think that everything promised by anyone in any election will be delivered. Salmond would not have delivered many of his promises. Wee Jimmy Krankie will fail to deliver some of hers it's the nature of politics. Now with no prospect of a further referendum Scottish voters will condemn themselves to a government that is completely unsympathetic to their aims because they didn't get everything they wanted.

I'm doing some work for the Greens at the minute and support them. If I lived in a constituency where my vote would help create a Conservative/UKIP coalition I would probably vote instrumentally. It's about thinking of the long term rather than sulking.

Think we shall just wait and see. Politcal momentum is most certainly with the SNP atm. I'll be attending a rally in the city tomorrow supporting the SNP cause.

To me it seems in your eyes anyone supporting SNP is anti English. In reality it is everyone here rebelling against the Labour and Tory and their failed policies. Time for something different.

Are we cutting our noses off to spite our faces? Well who knows only time will tell but what is clear is that the people of Scotland are sick of the usual trash and are voting accordingly.

I don't care about pro Scottish or anti English. If I thought the SNP could achieve an overall majority I'd be voting for them. It won't be something different though will it? It'll be another 5 years of the same or worse.

I guess I'm more concerned with the demonisation of the poor and disabled than nationalism. I absolutely hoped that the referendum would go yes. I would have emigrated. It didn't so caring for people is more important to me than owt else.

Jimmy the disabled, elderly, poor and disadvantaged are no better off here. But like yourself I wish more could be done for them and Nicola and the SNP give me a bit of hope that things could change for the better for them.

How the fk could anyone support paying 10 billion pounds or whatever it is, to renew submarines which would never be used in anger when we have sick, needy, elderly and children all in need of financial and emotional help. WE can help them if only money was not pi55ed away on crazy ventures like Trident.

BTW Jimmy sorry for being a wee bit nippy earlier mate.

Can't disagree with anything you have said there. The Trident money you are right. House the homeless, feed the poor, look after the sick then worry about everything else. No offence taken like o said before if I were Scottish I would support the SNP and agree with more of their policies than anyone, other than the Greens. Genuine question if you want to rock the boat and shake off the conventional politicians why not vote Green?

I know what you are saying mate but it would require many more than me to vote Green to make a difference. I'm only hoping that the SNP makes a difference in Westminster. Not in a breakaway sense but in a political way in changing the way this country is run.
Some kind of change is needed.
