I think 2/9 was a fantastic price on conservatives getting back in was always going to be them just a case of who with
Something I suspected/feared months ago mate. Like you though I'm absolutely gutted. I work for the Govt and see first hand the way things are run and it's not looking good for us and Public sector in general. Privatisation big time. Afterall the Tories have to reward their paymasters big time. Still some posters on here will be ecstatic, just glad I don't know them personally. Don't usually post much pre season, but I won't even read this board until the season starts. The gloatings of Xerthes, Tyrone1 Dragon Tyke et al on here will be all-too apparent, Once again this town, like other Labour towns will be treated like something the the Tories trod in.
Wasn't last years exit poll bang on? In any case it seems there's no chance labour will get more seats than the conservatives.
316 seats predicted for tories ,not enough for a majority but news saying should be first to talk to others to form a govt. But tbh I'm baffled about that as yes they are biggest single party but less seats than anti austerity movement which includes all parties.
But its not just about labour and Tories now and most others are anti austerity so in that respect Tories are minority (I think)
The DUP in Northern Ireland are right of centre and natural coalition partners for the tories. They will have about 10 seats.
I'm clinging on here Marlon mate, please keep my falling spirits up. By the way, I'm in the Hotel bar In Puerta Del Carmen, Lanzarote, so I'm not too downhearted, at the moment, perhaps a little tipsy though.
But they have been fighting to keep public sector jobs and a halt to a section of benefit sanctions as demanded by their electorate which is very dependant on this sector ,can't see how the Tories will allow them this and not rest of country .they won't get away with it anyway
They will bargain whatever agreement is necessary, thats the nature of coalition. If its a choice between giving the DUP some concessions or not being able to form a government, it is obvious that they will give the concessions necessary.
Please explain why Scotland not voting Tory and England voting Tory and you blame us. FFS surely if more English regions voted Labour instead of Tory it would be job done. Sorry Selby but your own lot stabbed you in the back.
Well I don't know about that because if the dup go against a very staunch electorate I think there would be hell to pay IMO. And if they give the DUP concessions they're not giving the country !! I cant see that tbh. On a by note lib dems lose deposit in sunderland
If the Tories get close to a majority the impact of the SNP vote is clear surely. Let's hope another 5 years of that lot delivers what you hoped for. Not that you are wrong about some of the English regions. A betrayal of the northern working classes on two fronts.
