And us appointing a head coach instead of a manager adding a bit of credit to the rumours, looking at the players we've singed I hope it's true, Scowen Hourihane Winall Berry Williams O'sullivan Davies Waring Cole Bailey all good players and we've signed more good uns then bad uns in last 12 months IMO so if it is true and with the signing so far we could be in for a decent summer transfer window just hope they get started first week in June

I reckon we recruited well on the whole. Just lacked some savvy, clever and occasional hard nuts. If a team's dancing round you, ala Swindon etc, have some fcuker go through their winger, an early 'hello' or summat. We haven't a player still who can do that. Scowen and Nyatanga are pretty physical, but I wouldn't say either of them are nasty.

But in footballing terms, we lacked width both in attack and defence. Played centre halves at full back, strikers or central midfielders ont wing, and had bad luck when the likes of Williams and JOS picked up injuries.

Johnson recognises we have plenty of 'artists' we now need to recruit 'soldiers'. It will come together over the summer.

It's not just someone nasty we need it's someone well versed in gamesmanship slowing things down at the right time making the game stop start not letting them get into a flow when their looking for a point in last ten minutes, as well as a bloke who'll throw his sen at people, we need a clean sheet mentally amongst our back 5/6 too,

Aye, like I said we need that game savvy, clever player too. Or a few even. That's what Darren Sheridan brought to the table, as well as his quality as a footballer.

Found that to be more immaturity than savvy on his part.

Why dont people just come out and say they want Dawson resigning instead of dancing around it?

He's been offered a new deal at Rochdale, but according to Keith Hill he has bigger clubs with bigger money interested too. Fingers crossed we're not one of them.

I doubt we'll make that mistake again. LJ is too savvy for that. He knows what type of players he wants, and I don't think Dawson is what he wants anyway.

What is best news is that we clearly are scouting properly, whether it be by statistical analysis of performances, or by watching players in person. I do think we have recruited well, although the thing you can't always determine is player attitude amongst the stats - what sort of influence they are in the dressing room, or beyond - and that may have let us down with one or two signings over the past two years, but less so lately by the looks of it. I will be very surprised if we get any duffers in over the summer and think that Johnson will know what structure of team he wants to build, as well as the areas of that structure in which he needs to strengthen. I have enough trust in those around the club to get the best list available for that and to recruit the best we can a) afford and b) persuade to come to Oakwell. It should be the quality, not the quantity that counts this summer. Looking forward to finding out.

The same LJ that signed Mellis and bigged him up at Oldham ?

I asked LJ about that, told him it troubled me.

He went on to tell us that at Oldham, he'd taken a gamble on Clarke-Harris, another lad with baggage, and then this season with Forte. He said he thought he could do similar with Mellis but soon realised he was wasting his time and that the lads attitude was beyond repair, just wasn't motivated by football. He says he doesn't need to gamble like that at Barnsley, not at this level because we're a big hitter down here.

He said the same when he refused our offer didn't he, only to pitch up at Rochdale?
