I have seen several unofficial Barnsley and Chesterfield pages on Facebook and Twitter saying we are in talks with him. The rumor is we have all but agreed a pre-contract deal with him so I'm assuming he must be out of contract at the Spireites. He was born in Barnsley but came through the Wednesday ranks, he can play RB,LB,RM or ST, he is 28 and he is highly rated by Wednesday and Chesterfield fans.

Can't be that highly rated or they wouldn't have loaned him out last season to the league below. If a player is deemed not good enough for league one level by Chesterfield, then I don't think they are good enough for what we are trying to achieve.

He had a long term injury & was loaned out to Plymouth to regain fitness

I don't think he adds to the first 11 but he's the sort of player who can come in & do a solid not spectacular job.

I'd have him as a versatile squad player.

I'd be concerned if Johnson saw him as a regular starter though

I've also seen a few rumours regarding Talbot over the past few weeks.

I also understand that #Barnsley like Drew Talbot #spireites

Lower leagues player and would be setting a worrying trend following Ibehre (admittedly he did ok while he was here) but we really should be looking a lot higher than knocking on lower league players.

    Seen the same.

Watched him closely against us and he looked awful.

Legs looked shot to pieces he runs worse than Ramage.

Him and Johnson are mates from playing together.

Our better players this season came from lower leagues (Hourihane, Winnall), while our worst came from higher up (Lita, Treacy).

Would be an inexpensive alternative to Peter Ramage. Experience, versatile, and I dare say dependable defender. Would give competition and back up to Holgate and Nyatanga. Very little harm in it in my opinion.

Local lad too. I believe he was released by our academy at a young age due to injuries, then took on by Wednesday. Lundwood lad I believe.

Do we really want someone who walked out on us?

Sounds like he walked out on football not us. He was a kid then. You'd rather us sign someone who isn't from Barnsley and has never played for/left Barnsley? Fact is he is from Barnsley, hes an adult now and he wants to play for Barnsley, I don't think him walking out as a teenager puts his desire to play for us into question.

Did anyone from Barnsley F.C. turn up every day begging him to sign for Barnsley? probably not.

I'd rather someone who isn't from Barnsley, but doesn't have spaghetti hamstrings, to be fair.

I believe he left Barnsley after having had a problem with one of the favourites at the time it ended the Drew's leg being broken by said player..

He then went to play local where he was spotted by Wednesday
