Grove street school is being demolished and replaced with a load of terraced houses. Criminal to knock down a beautiful building like that
Maybe it's part of the smart new Barnsley project http://www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk/news/article/10315/slick-new-designs-for-town-centre-revelead I hope someone has noticed the spelling mistake
Re: on the plus side The new home owners would try and block any chance we had to build a new West Stand one day similar to our East Stand (but with way better drainage so there isn't puddles everywhere).
Town centre improvements... ...including a bridge over the railway terminating in "STAIRS AND LIFTS" at the carpark side. A disaster waiting to happen, let alone no access for disabled or those with prams and pushchairs when the lifts are "out of order" - Councillor Roy Miller involved again.
but we do not need one like the East stand just a modern version of the west stand... IMHO there is enough room there already to do that... maybe a two tier like the end at QPR behind the goal.
Re: but we do not need one like the East stand Have to agree on that maybe a low modern stand similar to Blackburn rovers with better press and TV access.current ground capacity is very adequate for most games.
Re: but we do not need one like the East stand We don't NEED one at the present moment in time but does that mean we should limit our future capacity by building a sub standard stand with an inferior capacity just because we aren't going to fill it tomorrow? And a lot of people don't realise it but even at the narrowest point on grove street there is more room from them edge of the pitch to the clubs outer wall than there is from the pitch to the outer wall of the east stand. In other words a stand identical to the east stand would fit on the west stand side without exceeding the clubs existing boundary.
Re: but we do not need one like the East stand Why spend money building a stand that is only adequate for most games?
Re: but we do not need one like the East stand Modernisation, better corporate facilities, better fans comfort and viewing, better media facility's etc
Re: but we do not need one like the East stand Could better facilities not also exist in a stand the same size as the east stand? In fact wouldn't it give more room to house the facilities? Go small and you limit your room, go large and not only have you planned for success rather than failure but you've also built a stand big enough to house a proper redfearns bar and restaurant, a non matchday money making retail outlet, office space that could be rented out to local businesses, a gym to earn the club some serious cash etc.
Re: but we do not need one like the East stand I actually said the current GROUND capacity not the stands capacity.
Re: but we do not need one like the East stand cant see a new stand happening anytime soon, theres more pressing issues like trying to put a squad together capable of promotion.
Re: but we do not need one like the East stand But didn't you say to build a low modern stand? Which suggests not really increasing capacity
