    in a bbc best central midfielder poll.....Stevie Gerrard

    on 56% is currently 35+% clear of nearest rival Paul Scholes (20%), followed by Fat Frank on 7% and the rest nowhere.

    At last some sense .......................well done Stevie G.....only on the bbs can an awesome player be rated so poorly.....it's hardly surprising on here though.....

    Absolute legend ....... cap doffed.

    Only Gerrard is 'retiring' at this moment so it's the fresh emotion, his fans will all be voting while others will be a bit meh towards the poll.

    Steven Gerrard is 1 of the greatest players to grace the premier league but for me Frank Lampard is/was better.....for a midfielder to be the highest scoring player at a club playing in the modern era is amazing!!

    Frankie Lampard all the way for me!

    Apart from Hoddle.

    Whose hair, singing and subsequent spiritual style sullied his efforts on the pitch.

    Scholes on the pitch is like Hanson off it. Very good but accepted icon for no especial reason.
