a tradition as deeply ingrained to English football as the FA Cup. It is totally to keep the TV happy, sorry but it SUCKS.

    Perfect for me.

Just watched the Scottish Cup Final, now the English cup final then after I'll watch the Spanish cup final.

    Whats not to like.

I'm a fan of tradition and hate the way football has sold its soul to the TV companies. The FA cup final should be 15:00 hours on Saturday afternoon.

yes but, Ian, what you must remember, living over the wall

is that you are an uncivilised heathen/pagan/savage/ oh and a tranny with them checked skirts you all wear. :D:p:D

I was well Pleased for Inverness. I was stationed at RAF Kinloss when they amalgamated and got into the league. I went to a good many matches, too so have a bit of an affinity for them. Have they improved the ground by the Kessock bridge yet. it was 1997 when I left there so do not know.

I understand what's being said and yes, the tv companies do have a big say. But it could be argued that the 3pm saturday kick off is no longer as beneficial to people as it once was. The traditional working week is no longer a monday to friday, 9 to 5 shift and is constantly changing.

The saturday noon/teatime and sunday aft kickoffs are now as big a tradition as the the 3pm saturday ko once was. IMO of course

so why does it mainly apply to the Prem and major comps

I agree that working weeks are getting longer and also 24/7 is here to stay. I would love it if Barnsley would play all their games on a sunday... I would instantly get an ST without hesitation. I work 4 Saturdays in 6 so simply cannot attend being 250 miles away. But if we got More Sunday kick offs or Saturday evenings then I would be able to get there.
If we kicked off at 3pm on the sunday I would leave Wales around 10 am ish and get there in decent time... and would be able to be home around 10pm ok a 12 hour stint... but one I would take gladly... I sooo miss it.

I prefer 3pm too, but purely from a nostalgic point of view. More people watch at teatime than at 3pm, which would suggest that the TV companies AND the viewers win.

I don't know if prefer is the right word. People are just used to it and accept that football is played at times that aren't necessarily convenient for fans. The FA cup used to be a special day in the football calendar, it drew huge audiences and was a must see game.

The tradition of the FA cup should have been sacrosanct, not something that could be sold to the highest bidder.
