Why are 50mph limits still in place at night when no workforce is on site?

Cos in most parts there's no hard shoulder, so you may come across a broken down car in front of you.

I work on the M1 50mph section, the vast majority of work takes place at night as the traffic is far too high to close further lanes off during the day.

Blatter gets off because his lawyers as always say he didn't realise where he was and what was happening and for some reason the authorities believe him :D

I've seen dumb dumbs slowing down as they pass the yellow camera's......and then speed up again. Think someone needs to explain to them what the word "average" means.

Didn't someone who wasn't Einstein say "the definition of madness is doing/saying something over and over again (and expecting a different result)?

So why is there a 50 mph limit when there is no one there during the day - that's my point.

As you work on the M1 section - Question for you DT -

When the f*** are they gonna finish - as it's been going on far too long. Summer 2013 the barrier replacement started between junctions 28-31.

The limit isnt to protect tge workers as much as drivers. When there is no hard shoulder thry have a 50mph limkt and because of the scale of the roadworks it is quicker, easier and safer to put a more permenant barrier to secure off the area they're working in instead of putting out cones every night. That means that the barrier stays up even when nobody is on site and the barrier staying up means no hard shoulder and in turn a 50,mph limit

Because the lanes are narrowed, we cant remove the closed section of the road every night because of the dangerous conditions as on every construction site and it would also be physically impossible. There are still workmen on site during the day but not as many.

The work was due to be finished 31-28 sometime at the end of this year but the central wall has failed some sort of test and has to be completely replaced apparently, so it will be another few years yet id imagine.
