We are supposedly getting a prolonged heatwave from wednesday onwards, so we will see. If the England players are available then Andrew Gale is going to have to drop himself again.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.
Spot on. Unfortunately, money is dictating the game, making sure we play the Aussies every other week for the Ashes, then filing in the gaps with India and Pakistan as they guarantee a big following.

Get back to five tests against all the other test playing nations, and lets have the Ashes something worth waiting for. When you can lose it six months after retaining it, something's wrong.

Yes he probably will. Andrew Hodd is not really justifying his place either - if Bairstow is behind the stumps and batting well I can't see the point in playing Hodd at all. No doubt he will drop out on Friday.

It's a shame though this club v country business. Players like Root are getting further away from Yorkshire as each game goes by and yet he will be an automatic pick on Friday if made available. Not saying he shouldn't play - I want to see the best eleven out there - but it's hard on the young lads who have been filling in for the internationals having to give way when they come back. That's life though.

If they are available even with Finch still injured, Lancashire will be in deep **** trying to beat a squad what is strong enough to do well in the IPL of......

    1) Adam Lyth
    2) Alex Lees
    3) Gary Ballance
    4) Joe Root
    5) Glenn Maxwell
    6) Andrew Gale
    7) Johnny Bairstow
    8) Tim Bresnan
    9) Adil Rashid
    10 Steven Patterson
    11) Jack Brooks

Sidebottom is back for Middlesex on sunday. Harsh on guys like Rhodes and Leaning to have to miss out.

Hard on Rich Pyrah as well. He has more than distinguished himself with bat and ball whenever I have seen him.

Finch is due in for the next home game against Northants, two weeks on Friday. I can't wait to see him and Maxwell at the crease together, if that should happen!

Having his nose splattered all over his face should be taken into the equation...
