    Wow! I didn't see that coming! Am I right in saying that FIFA execs are immune from investigation if they resign?? Isn't that what happened with Jack Warner? I'm sure i'm talking boll0cks, but I can only assume the only way Blatter would do this, is if he knew the net was closing and it was the only way to save his own skin..

    I think there has been a deal in the past when people have resigned that FIFA themselves won't investigate them further. Totally different when it's the FBI etc doing the investigation, they won't stop.

    it seems very odd, after the press conference earlier in the week. something must have changed massively. my money is on the FBI nailing him, and he's entering a plea bargain as we speak...that sounds more exciting anyway.

    summat big has changed since that conference. sounds like he's sticking around till the end of the year though, so you do wonder whether we'll hear the full story. if it was that earth shattering, would he be allowed to remain in post?

    I think things will come out but the impression I am getting is that Blatter is not resigning for criminal reasons, or to avoid the FBI. God knows why he was resolute in his will to serve five years just last week and is now resigning.
