Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se But you didn't bring other clubs up. you rambled on about getting deals done at BFC. who's right and who's wrong? It matters not one jot me old
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se Is that a no then didn't think you would, find as many excuses as you want, you know as well as I do transfers take miles longer then they used to, and it Fu'cked us over last summer
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se That's a losers attitude, you where wrong and you know it. and that's all that matters,
errrm but already many are out of contract so would a player released/OOC have to wait till July then
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se Truth is, neither you nor i know how long it takes for a deal to go through. Youre just guessing.
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se Were. That's all that matters.
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se Contracts run til end of June.
Re: errrm but already many are out of contract I'm probably wrong here, but I was under the impression that contracts run up to and including 30th June. Therefore no player can officially become a Barnsley FC employee until 1st July, the day the Summer transfer window opens, even if contracts & potential transfer fees have been agreed. But, as I say, I'm probably wrong.
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se And being right, petty tha always wrong eh
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se I dont think our transfer dealings are that much different to a lot of other clubs. I'm sure LJ has identified all his targets and will work to bring them in as quickly as possible but it's not going to be possible to sign them all over the next few weeks.
probably me matey I thought the contracts ended 1st June. But I like you confess...I know two things about football, Nowt and **** all....
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se The sane posters in this thread have spelt it out for you. We are not expecting you to understand. Enjoy your day however
Re: probably me matey I think it's same as FFP if you feel like sticking to rules you can if you don't just do what you want. That's why quite a few clubs have already signed a few
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se ^^^This. It was only last week that .:Tyke:. told us that there's no point wondering who we're signing, or getting excited etc, because if they're good we'll not keep em because they're cnuts, and if they're **** we'll be stuck with em. Probably again because they're cnuts. Especially if they've laiked for Leeds. I guess he gets bored of an afternoon and forgets what he's already said.
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se Not bothered when the dealings are done as long as when they are it's the correct calibre of players we recruit. At least nobody from the club has promised early dealings as was the case last year. That in itself is a step in the right direction.
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se Never said I'd get excited what I said stands firm, but like I said this time last year and was ridiculed, we need to be getting in early enough to get them up to speed to hit the ground running, I wasn't wrong last year when I said it, and I'm not this year, unfortunately their seems to be a pattern forming where we struggle to get our deals done early enough. Don't know why this is the case so I'm not pointing the finger of blame just pointing out what's going on, and asking if people feel the tide might turn this summer
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se Weren't our hands tied by O'Grady not leaving while late on last year ? Also Luke Steele didn't leave until after the Halifax friendly so our targets went signed until most of pre season had finished.
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se You weren't right though. We released most of our squad last year, and going down and taking a financial hit, we had to wait until we offloaded big earners such as O'Grady before we could bring in new lads. But people have told you this already. This summer, we have no such obstacle, so I would hope that we find it less difficult to recruit most of our players before the big kick off in August. Ideally, you'd want the bulk of them in in time for pre season training, but as BigLil illustrated perfectly earlier on, there are numerous factors involved in recruitment and these can often throw a spanner in the works. Chill yer boots, relax, it's the off season. Plenty of time to whinge from August onwards.
Re: Do you reckon we'll get the bulk of our transfer dealings done in time for pre se No. We'll be recruiting, or looking to, right until the transfer window closes. Just like every other club. Our approach had nothing to do with it. With Chris O'Grady on the books our wage budget was accounted for. We couldn't sign more players until after he was sold. The board sign players as quickly as possible. It is in their benefit to do so. After O'Grady's departure last season the signings came in thick and fast. If Man Utd want to sign a player they have no problem at all in obtaining his signature. Barnsley don't have that luxury. We don't pay the best wages, we can't afford to, we're not a prestigious club, and we don't have much more to offer than many other teams. We have to rely on how well the board, coaching team and back room staff can sell the club to a player and his agent (and probably his wife/girlfriend) and try to match or better any wages offered by other clubs. If a player is a top target for us, then he'll be a top target for a number of other teams too. All teams want the best players. His agent will be touting him around to all and sundry trying to get him the best deal. If we offer the best deal and the player is happy with the club and the manager, we'll make the signing. But neither the player nor his agent are in any rush to sign until they make themselves aware of what is on offer from elsewhere. The players have the power, not the clubs, and any delay will be on the player's side. The majority of other clubs will be in the same boat. As soon as the top players make up their mind, there'll be a frantic scramble for what is left, usually some time in July.
