Whist it clearly would bring in more revenue. Given the choice between our league status or a massive scoreboard like Tranmere's, then I reckon both our fans and Tranmere's fans would choose league status.

You're not being asked to make that choice though. Neither are Tranmere fans. Them losing their league status and having a new scoreboard are completely unrelated.

It just serves as another example that other clubs can do things right on the commercial side and BFC are still bumbling around with promises made in spring 2013.

I can say with lots of confidence that I doubt Bristol City, PNE and MK Dons were promoted because of an influential electronic ******* scoreboard. Jesus wept we must be basterd desperate these days if we think plonking a big **** off screen in the corner is going to help us get promoted.

I am not daft, despite much evidence. I accept a brand new scoreboard is an inevitability and can see the reasoning behind it, I would welcome it in fact. But as of now, preparing for a second season in the pub league with even less money to play with and plenty of players needed, I would rather spend our limited income on those necessary players than a bit of kit that'll advertise stuff on a screen.

And anyway, it'd take a few years of adverts on the screen, to pay the cost off of buying and installing one.

So aye, not on my list of priorities as a Barnsley fan, but not surprised it appears high up on a few of the BBS' more renowned moaning contributors. :)

The club announced that the cost was being payed in installments more than covered by the increased revenue

    One thing....
Whilst I agree in principle that "a scoreboard won't get is promoted" you've also got to acknowledge all those teams over the years who've risen up the league seemingly on the back of a new stadium. Not saying we need a new stadium Btw, but a lot of that is feel good factor and atmosphere, something a new scoreboard, if managed right, would create in abundance. This would translate an extra 10% on most average players performances...

Plus it wouldn't be able to leave in the next transfer window after an excellent performance?!

Spending on big screens hasn't prevented them from getting promoted either.

You are moaning about moaners :) We just think a professional company shouldn't promise things they can't deliver on. If they hadn't said for the best part of two years we were getting a new scoreboard and keep coming up with reasons for not delivering then people wouldn't be waiting for it so badly.
