Driving up m1 to junction 39 and travelling southbound there was a guy cycling on the hard shoulder.

I can top that - saw exactly the same in Russia last year, with the added bonus that the cyclist was an old man wearing just his underpants. I've not made this up by the way.

There's been some sort of cycling event here in Leeds today. I've seen tons of bikes, not one of them being ridden though, every single one strapped to the back of a car.

It was the Sky Ride so we got the pleasure of all the City Centre roads being shut.

Going back to the original post, he probably thinks he has every right to do it , you know like driving on pavements, going through red lights etc etc

And I'm guessing you never eat in the car or look at your phone or break speed limits?

Yes there are some w*nker cyclists, the same as there are some w*nker drivers. The difference is that being a w*nker on a bike doesn't endanger the lives of car drivers.

Talking of cyclists, I was in London on Saturday, and happened (purely by accident) to see at least a thousand naked cyclists on a rally.

No just pedestrians and what insurance do they hold should they have an accident with a vehicle

When was the last time a bicycle caused a vehicle to be written off?

No but it endangers the lives/health of pedestrians when they come flying through red lights as people are crossing. And poor cycling can cause accidents so can endanger the lives of car drivers.

It doesn't have to be written off for an insurance claim.

Someone in a car is way more dangerous to pedestrians and other road users than a cyclist. I'm not defending the knobhead cyclists who run red lights, but it gets on my tits when drivers act as if cyclists are a menace when they are far more likely to kill a cyclist through not paying attention than a cyclist is to kill/injure anyone else.

Even better and at junction 39 going southbound last week...

A woman thought that a gap in the the works barriers were the turn off for the junction so pulled into the works lane and set off down it, completely oblivious that it was empty and had works 15mph sign dotted all over, she ended up having to reverse back up. This week there's signs for "No Access to Junction 39".
