They're not going to buy Stones and not play him, he's proven in this league, you're spot on about them buying players for massive price tags and them not working out, very rarely it happens with transfer fees in excess off £20 million though, and even rarer when they pay £20 plus million for someone proven in the premier league (Rodwell cost £12million) Whoever he goes to they'll play him no doubt about it
Barrel scraping? It's careful selection. There's hundreds of games every day. Do spiders live at the bottom of barrels then?
Absolutely no way in this world does thar know owt about most them teams tha backing, bet thy ant even heard of half of them ether
I don't claim to know owt about them. I trust that the bookies do. You can soon check form and league table though.
I'd like to see him at Chelsea because he'll win stuff. I'd like to see him at Arsenal because it'd be a good team.
If john stones was my son and joined manchester united i would be massively proud. The boy is one of ours and would love to see him finish a job that maybe tommy taylor never got to finish, as it would be a similar kind of move where barnsley has produced another great. if our john turns out to be a really good world pro and english player, that we hope he is, the lad is going to command a big, big fee. I think if he has a big commanding season this season then there will be a bidding war for him. I just hope it happens and gives barnsley a big payout, and hope it happens soon so we can get our money and just watch the rest off his career and hopefully the old pro returns to oakwell in the future.
Very true. Good post. I would like to think 95% of Barnsley fans would love to see Stones move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe, be a huge success, and have a long wonderful career. Rather than making me dislike Stones (not that I would be so pathetic as to "hate" any person based on the club they play for) it would probably make me watch united a lot more and start to like them. It's bloody brilliant to have one of own do so well. Fingers crossed he isn't the last. And if we get another £4-£6m for him even better!!

How much did they pay for Ferdinand? If they have to pay 35 to 40m for him then I think that's fair given how good he can become. Plus if we invest only half of the sell on clause back into the squad that would give us a good shout for next season.
According to the Liverpool Echo article posted today the bidding begins at £32m (given City paid that for Mangala). Fair valuation when you look at the Mangala deal, Luiz deal, Rio all those years ago. And he's English which pushes the price up for other English clubs. £40m by the time the bidding ends.
3 England caps, supports player of season, young player of the season, and players player of the season at 20 years of age, for a club who spent 28 million on one player last summer
