top gear will never be the same again without clarkson, hammond and may,,but they'll still get decent figures cause theres practically **** all else worth watching on a sunday.
dependant on who the other two are will decide for me if I watch it or not, I have no probs with Chris Evans... I thought the trio of the original was a great chemistry, never mind what Jeremy did otherwise... but Clarkson, May and the Hamster totally worked..... and worked well. I understand that the originals have been snapped up on Netflix or some other streamer .... I think they will take their fan base with them too. I wonder if the 'New' Top Gear will change its format or just copycat the original.
Re: dependant on who the other two are whilst i've nowt against chris evans,i really do wonder what he's got to have been able to land the jobs he has,,,,if the new top gear turns out to be owt like that one show ***** then it will be a flop.
Re: dependant on who the other two are A nice BBC clone to look at of a Sunday evening, Bruce, Young, Kaplinsky, Bleakley, wouldn't be too bad
It won't be worth watching without Clarkson, May and Hammond. They were the show in my humble opinion.
Re: dependant on who the other two are Clarkson owns the rights to the format, BBC own the rights to the name. So I imagine it been a different format
Re: dependant on who the other two are He only ever owned part of the rights (50% between him and Wilman) but they sold them back to the BBC a few years ago. I suspect that the new BBC series will include the stig and star in a reasonably priced car and anything else that's obviously top gear
Re: dependant on who the other two are Top gear was ***** anyway. Same repetitive format, but using different locations spending the licence payers money to drive through. And on that bombshell - Zzzzzzzzz!
Re: dependant on who the other two are They didn't spend any licence payers money. Top gear was I think BBCs most profitable show earning them millions upon millions every year from selling episodes to over 200 countries. And even if it didn't sell for any money you have to remember that it has a cast of just three people, a few cars that are pretty much given to the show by companies wanting to advertise and some plane tickets. No outlandish sets or casts of 50 millionaires
Re: dependant on who the other two are Judging by the reaction on Facebook this is even less popular than the last time an Evans was offered a contract.
Re: dependant on who the other two are Suppose to earn BBC £40m a year in overseas sales. But watching it live now is no different to watching a 4 year old repeat on Dave. Nothing's changed, except the hairlines. Been long due a change.
Re: dependant on who the other two are TBF I used to love Top Gear butI thought Clarkson May and Hammond were looking very laboured and more and more heavily scripted over the last couple of series, As its the BBC I would bet one of the team will be a woman probably Jodie Kidd and possibly one not white (can't say coloured any more but in this case not sure what nationality. What with a ginge hosting it they will have covered most bases then)
Re: dependant on who the other two are Suzi Perry & Jason Plato rumoured, but only that - rumours. I'd love it if Evans could persuade Steve Coogan to join him.
Re: dependant on who the other two are Clarkson, May and Hammond will go to Netflix, and that's what everyone will watch.
Re: dependant on who the other two are Netflix might get a spike in viewers but a fraction of the viewers on BBC even with Evans , it's not a program I watch but if they had Brian Anderson ofACDC who is a big car freak or Ted Nugent on I might watch
