I know his loan spell with us was really brief but I've just seen this and thought I'd mention it.

Anybody know what the tweet actually said? This is the first I've heard of it.

Oh wait I've just found it, he called Bamford a "sausage boy". Odd

Banned for calling somebody a sausage boy. Ridiculous.

I don't think it's ridiculous at all. Football clubs are meant to make a stand against all forms of discrimination. How can that be taken seriously, when you have footballers coming out with stupid comments like that on social media. They're just fcukin thick..

A very average footballer, probably unknown to most football fans, has a pop at another footballer (POTY in that division) via twitter with homosexual slur. Yep, thick as pig ****. And Flicker dropped Hassell to start him against Man City at the Etihad. Special human indeed.

It's a silly childish name, ffs there was loads of banter on here the other night on the same theme. Are they going to ban every footballer who calls somebody a name now.

Just the thick ones, mate, who don't use their brain before going onto twitter.

I'm the last bloke to talk about name calling. Ask Roy on here. Most of our 'banter' is of that kind of nature. But we're not professional footballers. Our tweets or whatever aren't being seen by our employees etc.

Is sausage boy really so offensive? Maybe i just don't understand this new PC world but surely if you take such a hard line on things like this then the same has to apply to names like fat boy or tubby.

It's casting aspersions though. I don't know if Bamford is gay, and couldn't care less if he is. But this episode will open him up to grief I suspect. I dunno mate. I just accept we're living in different times now with different rules/limits etc. Footballers know the score. I've no sympathy for Tunnicliffe. Daft thing to tweet.

It's only banter if you know the person that you're taking the piss out of.

I suspect the slur may be premised on the basis that Bamford is an intelligent, cultured footballer and that Tunnicliffe is a boorish dunce.

It smacks of Batty and Le Saux, Star vs Guardian readers.

Still can't believe Twitter actually exists or that people "tweet".

Puerile, facile drivel from morons such as Tunnicliffe or pseudo intellectual blather from attention seeking wannabe smart arses.

    FFS. Are we not men?
