Different strokes for different folks, innit? I love allsorts of music. I think some folk are a bit 'cool' or snobbish when it comes to music. I've got my preferences, none are really cool. If I could only listen to one band, it'd be blink-182 obviously. But I can listen to cheesy pop music, death metal, reggae, hip hop, trance, hardcore, soul, owt really. Depends ont mood. I even like James Blunt occasionally. But Coldplay, Sting and U2 can **** off.
Agree with most of the names mentioned but hard to overrate a man with a back catalogue of about 40 albums covering multiple genres and cited as a major influence by the likes of Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, Sonic Youth, Nick Cave, The Pixies, etc. etc. He's won a million awards for best song, best artist, artist of the year, grammys, Oscar nominations, etc. He's considered one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time and that's only one of the instruments he plays. He's championed many a political cause and raised thousands from benefit gigs. Do yourself a favour Jimmy and download Weld for a taste of the legend that is Neil Young.
I've got quite a lot of his stuff and I've tried and tried to get it. Spent a fortune seeing him live again couldn't really get it. I guess sometimes you just can't see what others do. And you're right most of the artists who like him I like.
yes. both had one good album then went $hit. arctic monkeys are just like a cabaret band now. faux american accent, playing huge venues and hanging round with p diddy
I quite like Arctic Monkeys, I think they've got some catchy tunes, but what the **** is Alex Turner all about? You're from Sheffield mate, calm yourself.
Not really because the bands have to be rated in the first place. One Direction aren't really overrated as no one praises the music.
I'd say Oasis definitely and not maybe. They were massive, much bigger than Arctic Monkeys ever have been and for that reason alone they must be the most overrated. If either of those two bands had been around in the 60s or 70s they'd have got nowhere. Oasis would have been supporting Slade and AM Generation X. They just happened to come along when there was little else going.
You're missing the point. Coldplay have been mentioned a few times but yet they sell millions and play sold out tours. So who's doing the rating? No such thing as overrated, just different tastes. The garbage you're into is rubbish IMO but I'm sure you rate it highly.
I might have agreed with you till recently but I'm going through a bit of an early 90s nostalgia phase. I always preferred bands that influenced Nirvana - Pixies, Husker Du, Big Black, Sonic Youth et al - but listening to some Nirvana it's not bad. I do prefer Pixies though from that era.
