i don't follow too much stuff after their first or second album. bands run out of ideas, feel the need to change direction, get popular and have too much money to overthink, stop taking drugs, have a better life and have **** all to write or rant about, they get fat & lazy, i get bored and move onto summat else. loads of reasons. take 10 'best of' compilations, and I guarantee you'll generally find a trend. starts brilliant, goes ok, ends up $hit. which is why the likes of billy childish is such a national treasure. making music for over 30 years, still hardly **** all people have heard of him, sells hardly any records and still as raw as anyone one out there..
I just love music. Being a mod switched me on to all sorts of music. Music of any kind if it's good (or what I see as good) I will champion. I still get as excited today as when I was 18 sitting at the 6th form talking **** about music with Gordon Ottershaw. I love it when music surprises you like Pharrell Williams and Happy. I thought I disliked that style of music then a song blows you away by being so much better than any song you've heard in years. Cross genres if you like summat you like it. I'm a sort of music snob but not the kind that has to have someone else tell them to listen to something.
Going to upset a lot of people here, but Paul Weller. IMHO he hasn't written a song worth listening too in about 35 years.
Music is an amazing thing and I can't put into words how much I like it. Unlike you I'm pretty closed minded to other genres - reason being that the things I look for are only found in heavy metal so I can't imagine other styles appealing to me.
The Style Council did some great songs too. Shout to the top is quality. Wild Wood is a great song too.
I do agree about Alex Turner and his strange accent but as a band they are unbelievable. The latest album is unreal. Nirvana too were the very best band of the last 25 years, no doubt. Most overrated are Stone Roses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Another one I've just thought of - Neutral Milk Hotel. Don't don't don't don't don't believe the hype.
They've always done it. Used to wind me the **** up when I used to go out and buy albums based on such opinions. But **** me Arcade Fire are truly horrendous.
Last Arctic Mokeys album AM is a fantastic album. I understand the Alex Turner hatred cos he's clearly a knob and they have been up and down in terms of quality but that's a great album.
Any credibility you ever had has just gone so, so far away. No band you could possibly name has not been massively influenced by the Beatles.
Can't believe people are saying Nirvana are overrated when the Foo Fighters exist, album after album of pedestrian rock. Muse are overrated as well, overblown, overwrought nonsense. Oh and Kasabian as well, garbage.
