Ah right, I don't use twitter much, definitely heard it used on tv last week (in an ironic way IIRC, so I assumed that's how it's always used).

    Mike Sheron.
Movement and first touch very much unappreciated by people who were expecting too much

He used to come alive from nowhere, score a few goals, then they'd dry up for ages. Very patchy. But technically he was very good and his contribution to that great season in 1999-2000 is often overlooked.

His wages and transfer fee are the issue I reckon.

Difficult to look past Nicky Eaden and Ray McHale, but there's one man who is key to the success we had in the first decade or so of me watching the team, who rarely ever gets discussed in terms of his playing and that's Allan Clarke. He really was a classy player. You just can't imagine someone of his calibre dropping down to the fourth division at his age nowadays. It'd be like Jermaine Defoe suddenly becoming player-manager of Leyton Orient.

Jon Macken was very underated IMO. I've not seen a striker with his touch for some time now at Oakwell.

Scott Golborne was underrated too. Best left back we've had in years.

Sam Togwell. Remember him getting some grief on here despite the fact that he was decent. Wasn't a stand out player, but was a solid performer who gave a 7/10 performance most weeks.

Stephen Foster. Not because he got loads of abuse, but because who ever played along side him got loads of credit when Foster was usually making them look a good player with his reading of the game.

Plus people always used to say, "I don't mind Foster but we need to replace him with a big nasty centre half". Which we did. And then got relegated.

Denis Souza was absolutely ****ing trash. Couldnt stop pissing myself when Donny signed him.

Steven Foster, Martin Devaney and Jacob Butterfield who got stick at first for some strange reason.

Agree with all that. Much better than Shackell the year he was here, yet 'call me captain' got all the credit.
