Terrible first touch, not brilliant at holding it up, not great technique but knew where the net was. I can think of plenty of strikers we've had far, far worse than him in recent times. Bogdanovic, nardiello, hayes, o grady to start is off.

In recent times McCourt and Cranie. Both good technical players, and showed flashes of class. But neither majority of the time they didn't have attitude or application to live up to the hype

Got you add Jim O'Brien to that aswell. If he found a pair of shooting boots he would have been 20 goal a season man. Very frustrating player.

But we all like a grafter... Hourihane doesn't have work rate but is effective. Stats don't lie.

Was very good for us on loan, chocolate fireguard once he'd signed. Liked a beer didn't he?

Ashley Ward (I'm prepared to be in a minority of one here, but I stand by it).
Loads of his goals were toe poked over the line as the shots of others were about to score. Went missing loads of times but always got a superb write up from Lodge.

Anderson De Silva and Hugo Colace

Both had a good couple of months followed by a couple of years of nothing else. De Silva went off the cliff after getting injured. Colace just turned naff and somehow won player of the season off the back of it. Still the most baffling thing I've ever witnessed as a Barnsley fan.

Hugo Colace won POTY for the season he finished top scorer.

He did. I remember him having a really good 1st season, then he messed us about in the summer and wouldn't sign unless we signed Jeronimo, he was then rubbish during that 2nd season.

I seem to remember him playing as a holding, defensive midfielder in his first season, Simon Davey's last full season. The following season, Robins allowed him to play further forward, resulting in him becoming top scorer & POTY. He re signed that Summer, after a move to Crystal Palace fell though. Unfortunately, as you rightly say, his contribution was exceptionally poor.
