I swear, I'm ready to stop watching US TV Series altogether. The amount of shows that get one or 2 series in and because it hasn't got 6 squillion viewers immediately, then it gets canned. I wouldn't mind anywhere near as much if the writers got a heads-up that they weren't going to get a full series again, but if they just had a short mini-series to wrap things up, say upto 6 more episodes. Kind of like going to the cinema to watch a 2 hour film, then walking out after 1hr 30mins, despite wishing you'd stayed til the end to find out what happened. Yank tossballs.
Not wrong pal. Lost my two favourite USA comedies this year How I Met Your Mother and Two and And Half Men. At least they went on a long time. Anger Management ended far too early and Comedy Central haven't aired the last couple of dozen episodes to catch up. Mom is OK but season 2 wasn't as good. Broad City on Comedy Central is pretty good and Abi Jacobson is hot. Bad Teacher got cut after like 13 episodes. Marry Me was alright but the creator should have stuck with making Happy Endings which is the nearest America have come to recreating Friends. Mindy Project will hopefully find a new network. I might have forgot something but the best 3 USA comedies at the moment are probably........ 1) Brooklyn 99. Season 2 was just as good as season 1 and the cast are all good. Melissa Fumero will probably outgrow it at some point. 2) The Middle. Six seasons in and still as good. Although now Brick Eck is older he's not quite as funny. 3) New Girl. Good to see it back on E4 as of last thursday. 2 Broke Girls is alright as well.
I've never heard of The Middle but I do like the others you mentioned which leads me to thinking that that might be alright too. Brooklyn 99 is brilliant!
Although they do cancel some stuff early they also shamelessly milk stuff well past its sell by date. The Simpsons is an embarrassment these days but they won't kill it. At least we have some restraint and know when to call it quits e.g. The Office, Fawlty Towers etc.
The Middle is on season 6 tuesday nights on Comedy Central but old episodes are repeated all the time to Sky Plus. It's a family of 5 that live in middle America (Indianapolis). You have all the stereotypes as the dad is a mans man who doesn't show feelings. The mum is a gossip. Eldest son is a school jock who pretends his parents are horrible. Only daughter is geeky and struggles through her teens. Youngest son Brick is awkward but inteligent. Has a tendency to say WHOOP for no reason or whisper the last few words he spoke back to himself. Brookylyn 99 is brilliant and I hope it goes on a long time yet. Can't pick a best character though. Amy Santiago for her looks and sucking up to the boss. Boyle as a sidekick. Captain is brilliant for his straight face.
I personally found 'Flash Forward' to be post 'Lost' quasi sci fi garbage. I would have been humane if someone had pulled the plug on Lost. As an idiot who sat through every episode it would had probably made more sense if they'd had just stopped it at the end of season 3. The only thing in recent memory that I feel was pulled too soon was 'Deadwood'. It was truly criminal that it wasn't granted a fourth season or even a mini series in which closure could have been given.
