I know he's a pal of mine so I'm biased, but been sitting on this news for a while. They're getting rid of our Barnsley lads to stream the commentary from the BBC, as other clubs do, such as ******* Huddersfield. Disgrace. Saving a few quid (and it is a few quid n all) at the expense of good, honest, hard working Barnsley supporters? You've had a mare, Ben Mansford.

Football commentator for hire. Discarded without a bye or a leave after almost 19 years of good standard service. Gutted.
— Matt Bailey (@Matt_Bailey1575) June 29, 2015

So the commentary on player will no longer be biased, say it as it is style. thats ****. much prefered players comm over radio sheffield
Will add my name to not being happy about this either. What on earth can be the justification for dropping our guys? Hope our CEO explains that one.
Brilliant Just what I want - some dee dah telling me how brilliant the opposition are constantly - especially in a derby match. Sign me up strai.....no don't bother thanks
It's what 'most' other clubs do. Get the local radio comm streamed to Player. However, Matt and Adam offered to continue doing it for FREE.
I never listen commentary anyway I'm always at the match when it's on, so it doesn't effect me, but I'm sure if enough people cancel their subscription they'll listen to you and go back to way it was, but too many will scab so you're stuck with the Shitfield boys id say
Genuinely gutted about this. The lads do a great job and whilst their commentary isn't the most clean cut (due to our accent) its still very enjoyable to listen to. Matts commentary alongside Bobby Hassell in the dying moments of the Huddersfield game is something I'll never forget.
Anyone who objects is just stuck in the past, most clubs at our level and above take advantage of the local BBC commentary and so to move us forward as a brand and to enhance the customer experience that is the way we've decided to go. BFC will be sure that some people might not be happy but in the fullness of time they'll come to appreciate the new arrangements. Or something along those lines.
Treated them both well since that famous afternoon...
Matt Bailey will have to get a real job now I guess.......plenty at ASOS I hear. never mind 19 years is a good run in any job hth. P.S. to all the happy clappers who think Jase is a nice good old chap...think again.....he is a hard nosed businessman / ex sports lawyer. He clearly does not give a fek about loyal local reporters etc.....not one jot
Absolutely awful decision. Those two lads created such a great atmosphere with their commentary. Their passion really showed, and made listening feel as close to being there as possible.
That's a disgrace. I've enjoyed listening to Matt and Adam the last few years, loved their passion for the club and always told it as it was. I assume it's BFC that have made this decision? Awful from them and they've dropped down in my estimations.
So with Barnsley Player we had a USP - a differentiator in the market place - which had a zero cost. And Mansford decided to take the same product as everyone else - You can see why that bloke Mansfords' got the job - outstanding business mind.
Is there a chance that BFC have made this move because of outages and the constant ISDN issue rather than the personalities involved? Or am I giving the club too much credit?
To be fair, I don't believe this is purely a Mansford decision. As always, there is only one true decision maker.
an emotive tweet from matt, but then again most tweets usually are. i'll wait to see what mr. mansford has to say, before burning him at the stake..
Very poor decision by the club especially as the subs have gone up, I always listen when away or can't get to games, total ballax!
I'll have an exclusive chat with Matt for the blog before the season starts. Think he'll end up in WSB too. Good ol BFC. One step forrad, three back.
