Sad really on all counts though I am looking forward to the 'sorry for being a racist ****' march in town.
And of course south Yorkshire Police are reknowed for making the correct decision. Swept under the carpet
Come again? I don't think I have jumped to a conclusion, have I? I've said that there are many reasons that she may have made the allegations and that lying for whatever reason is just one possibility. You seem to have determined the reason and suggested the punishment in one sentence, with absolutely no evidence to go on. To say '...the report says it didn't happen. That means she lied...' Is a very narrow way of looking at things and is just plain wrong. She may have lied, but just because the report says it happened doesn't necessarily leave her lying as the only conclusion. Loads of Americans claim to have seen aliens. Doesn't make them all liars. Some are simply delusional, some are just wrong, some are just craving attention for whatever reason. Chances are she is lying, but it's not normal for children to make false allegations of rape, so the child protection team will be carrying out a full investigation into why she did it (whereby they will have full access to the facts and the relevant people, unlike us) and help and punishment will be offered as required. Lets leave it to the experts, eh?
Yet more reason to offer the same protection of anonomity for our sons from being falsely accused by our malicious daughters. Or let our daughters face the same publicity. Imagine if an imigrant had walked through the underpass around that time - been asked to "help" with police enquiries and been named. Disgraceful state of affairs - but yes the young lady certainly needs help.
Between 3 and 8 feet tall, long or short hair, maybe even medium in length, possibly bald, not sure on the colour but it looked kind of browny black, with blonde or ginger bits, no facial hair except for long sideburns, a goatee and a moustache, spoke with an accent, possibly foreign, possibly a pissed up tarn bloke, wearing double denim. And some shades. I think.
SYP are currently taking a load of hammer for not dealing with similar historical offences correctly. So why the hell would they want to sweep it under the carpet and invite another shitstorm? You sound like one of the racists clutching at straws on facebook.
Do I indeed Anyone who has dealt with SYP will know that it's rotten to the core. An organisation that operates institutionalised selective vision Orgreave. Hillsborough etc Non of those involve ethnic minorities so how am I racist
To base you view on events that happened over 25 years ago is quite narrow minded don't you think? tha'ts not excusing their behavior at the time one bit of course. It seems there isn't crime to sweep under the carpet , more a child who needs some looking after and a bit of help.
I thought by saying "It's a far more complex situation than that." you we're jumping to the conclusion that it was clearly more than a child lying, probably the same as me jumping to the conclusion that she was lying. Now we clearly have different views on this issue although thinking about it more seriously i would agree that the facts of why she did it need looking into, i still believe it it was just a case of lying for the attention she should pay a reasonable penalty. As you say, lets leave it to the so called experts.
If someone breaks the law they should be punished. That doesn't mean they can't also be given help and support.
no i think it was the butler, in the library, late at night, with the dodgy blunt object. i never played that version of cluedo!!
some of the comments i've heard about what justice should be handed out to this 13-yr old girl, are just as ridiculous as the stuff the SYC idiots were coming out with. i do wish people would just take a step back and wait for the facts to come out, before jumping in with the rough justice..
Has no one thought that 'actually SYPs reputation is that bad and under the spotlight at the moment then I reckon theyd go over and above to make sure they can't be held accountable again?!?' As for the comments re the young lass. She's 13! The SYP statement hints about her needing help and protection. I hope she gets it. Luckily no names were involved. No one arrested/charged. It's not done any good this whole situation but for me a troubled young girl should be the main focus (for whatever reason she needed/felt/had to do what she's done) I work with kids and believe me, some of you will never know what some of them see and are subjected to on a daily basis.
