Villa, £1 million, same site that said we were singing that Maxwell from Liverpool. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/07/0...tm_source=twitter&utm_content=HITCdeadlineday We accept that, i have lost complete faith in our board
That site is in association with lots of Sky journos on twitter, so usually reliable. But they're only stating that it was in The Scum newspaper, so who knows?
Woah. Just realised The Scum newspaper and Sky are the same company. I would hope there's more than one club fancying the lad. Think we could get more than £1m, and, inserting sell on clauses is a must.
If Stones was worth £2.2 million, he's worth a packet of Maryland gooeys a Mars drink, and a single benson & hedges gold lit with a match for afters.
A cynic amongst us could suggest that this is reported because Holgate has allegedly declined the offer of a new contract. That cynic could further enquire to see if Holgate shared an agent with Sherwood.
Id have thought that because hes followed in Stones' footsteps out of our academy and is not too dissimilar a player that would probably drive up the price a little with the way Stones is viewed now. Not as good but Id imagine he'll end up a PL regular. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Went to watch them train on Thursday and Holgate was training with the reserves which seemed strange. Bree, Smith, Digby, Phenix all in with the first team. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
He's not as good as Stones so £1m plus sell on clause would be a tempting offer but if I was Ben I'd hold out for a better deal.
I agree but he's going too soon if you ask me, he'll just get lost at villa if he leaves now, When Stones left he needed to because he wasn't getting tested anymore, in training or matches, he'd reached a level where he was just coasting, he wasn't playing against players that could trouble him so he wasn't going to develop anymore unless he moved and joined a team with the sort of players Everton have, Holgate hasn't even mastered league one yet.
Would show a complete lack of any ambition so undoubtedly as usual we will take the first offer on the table.
While it wouldn't be a bad move for us, I can't help but thinking that Holgate would be moving too soon. He'd go straight back to playing U21s football and maybe be loaned out. I know I'm biased, but I think for his development he should stay with us for at least another year if possible, then he might go straight into a PL side's team
