Not the clubs fault if he's refused to sign. I'm not sure why a guy who has only a handful of first time appearances is acting like an arrogant ***** so early in his career.
If you could get upwards of 10 grand a week for 4 years at 18 years old what would you do, a millionaire at 22 ? I know I'd find it hard to turn down, he's a lad from a mining village, spent wisely he'd live like a king for the rest of his life.
Maybe he turned down the first offer and is negotiating? Is it obligatory to accept the first offer received? Does not doing So make one an arrogant ****?
Could be. I'm not tuned in to the inner dealings of Barnsley FC, nor am I spouting bile towards a kid who made his first team breakthrough last season. Why so angry?
The honourable thing is to accept a new contract offer from the club that has brought you on. This is a thank you and it also gives the club more bargaining power to sell you on at a good price. To refuse signing gives the impression of two fingers to the club that has made you what you are. The Drinkwater case is an example, he left us to return to his parent club, signed a new contract then moved to Leicester.
Not angry at all, just saying once he's left Barnsley Fu'ck him, couldn't care less if he develops or not once he's left us, to say you want him to stay a year to develop when he's only got a year left on his contract is stupidity, Fu'ck his development cash in now, I can't see a tribunal giving us a million and a sell on can you. The club comes first and it always will in my eyes
Has he turned down an extension to his contract...or is he out of contract now? If he's out of contract, grab the million...cos we'll get royally fuc'kd at a tribunal.
Definitely case his contract is running down and he's been offered new one(s) over the last twelve months. That's been confirmed. Club hope he sees sense and develops here. I got shouted down on Twitter for saying club should let anyone not wanting to be here leave. Stil believe in that philosophy.
Tyrone Mings, best full back in the Championship at a play-off team. Mason Holgate, bit part player for a ***** League One team.
A million is pretty damn good as it's only around half the amount we got for Stones. Only Stones was better, played more games for us, played at an higher level and had a long term contract so we couldn't get screwed over at a tribunal. No wonder Mason hasn't been in an hurry to sign a new contract. If he doesn't want to be here **** him. He wouldn't see first team football anytime soon if at all at those clubs.
the lad reads some of the comments on here....................no wonder any of our players can,t wait to leave............................
One article links him to Arsenal and Liverpool as well as Villa. Another links him to Everton and Spurs as well as Villa. He will have his agent in his ear about the money he can make. Too many see money made as the number 1 thing rather than playing regular first team football and possibly earning a promotion. The big move can come in a year or two when he'd be better equipped to play regular first team football. It took Stones a while to get it and he's better than Mason. Nobody wants to see him wasting his talent by playing reserve football and getting 15 minutes here or there, ending up like a Rodwell type.
Really hope he doesn't go we'll get far more if he stays at least til January, agents again I expect, would hate him to disappear into U21 obscurity he's a real talent.
