only stopped buying it around 3 years ago, just around the time they stopped putting the gig guide in.

its no coincidence the circulation has dropped from 100k to 15k since that time.

oh and the fact it was pretty much full of utter drivel !

Remember when it was big and thick but now it's small and thin, plus I've no idea who Catfish and the Bottlemen are.

I've been reading it again (electronically) for the past few months, since signing up to the Readly app on the iPad. I can generally get through it in less than 5 minutes, as it tends to cover stuff I'm not interested in. Had a decent Noel Gallagher interview recently though. They're always worth reading. But a magazine that thinks The Libertines are The Beatles is never really going to grab my interest!

One of my all time favourite things reduced to free rag status.

Loved the old format, hours of reading, scouring the reviews, doing the crossword, scouring the Gig Guide, leaving the nonsense of the Letters till last.

    Still love The Libertines mind.

The NME hasn't sold 100,000 for years and years. Its circulation was 56,000 in 2008, down from 72,000 in 2003. Its decline is a reflection of the decline of rock music. It sold well into 6 figures in the 70s. The fact that it now has to be given away says a lot about the music it champions.

People read about music and other stuff on the Internet so it's a logical step if it is to continue in its printed form. Like Gordon I still read on line it doesn't last as long as the cup of tea I drink when I read it.
