I'm quite happy with our business so far but I would have expected at least one new striker in especially as Lee as indicated he wants to bring in three. We have been linked to defenders and midfield players but no strikers yet.I wonder if he's looking abroad and maybe getting players from under the radar of our competitors.?
We were linked to wilkinson from Bolton but he wanted to much money and Watkins May play up top or out wide....
He'd be my first choice considering we know what we're getting but it doesn't look like LJ rates him as highly as some fans.
I can't see what there wasn't to like about Waring. Great attitude, tall, strong, quick feet, not slow, good moment and most importantly an eye for a goal. What more would you want in a league one striker? Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
I've no idea, it's mystery to me too. I hope it's just talk and that LJ is in talks with him because like you say he's perfect for the league we're in.
We probably are but Stoke will want to see what he can do in their own pre season for now. Once premiership clubs announce their squads I can see him being sent back out on loan and hopefully to us. Had a ratio with us of 1 in 3 though so you'd expect a target man on erm target for 15 goals a season will be looked at by bigger teams than us. Stoke may well think he's already proven to be better than league 1 so look to find him a championship team.
Talking to some Stoke supporters while I was away a couple of weeks ago and they had never heard of him.
I could be wrong. but am sure i saw stoke had offered him a new contract. No idea if he has signed but maybe chance of a season loan ?
But he got 6 for Barnsley when we were not scoring any goals!!! Spencer scored 1 goal in 13 games for Scunny in the bottom division !
Not sure how anyone can say they are pleased with the business we have done so far. The season starts in a month and we are about seven players short. The three we have signed have bugger all experience at this level.
Good mate of mine works for Stoke and has seen Waring progress over last 3-4 years. He's not in a position to have any sort of say in Waring's future, but from all he's told me, Stoke really want to keep him. It would take a substantial bid for us to get him. Johnson will know that, and suspect that's why we haven't heard that we're interested.
