Many moons ago I was like you in your outlook and I admire your dedication. I've spent thousands Watching the Reds over 35 odd years and no doubt will spend some more at some point. I can't really disagree with your post but it's just the way I feel at present.
If Lee Johnson would be agreeable to it, I'd certainly like to see him as a member of our coaching staff. How's his fitness levels? Below Winnall's, but above Treacy's?
It wasn't a serious question really, hence the smiley emoji thing. I'd sign him up though. But I'm just a wally.
Well, I'd sign him. But then I liked Wilson, Cranie, McCourt, Butterfield, Hourihane, etc. and the cleverer people didn't, so that shows I'm a bigger wally!
In his day Bobby was a fantastic player for us, consistent and worked hard. Showed great loyalty to our club when loyalty became unfashionable. However I don't think we should be signing 35+ players. Doesn't fit with our strategy and model and the wage should be invested in younger hungrier players. I feel the only reason anyone would sign him up as a player is out of sentiment not footballing logic.
McCourt was a fuuny one, I just don't think he was suited to a club like Barnsley. All well and good coming on with 20 minutes to go when you play for Celtic and are already 3/4-0 up, you can come on and showboat. Doesn't really work as well when you're expected to graft for 90 minutes for Barnsley FC.
35 is too old now. May as well have just kept Ramage on. I'm liking the youth policy. Fitter, hungrier, resale value.
I love watching skilful players. But being such an ignorant muggle I'm happy people who know more about the game than I are always willing to educate me.
I probably will attend the 1st game Mr Reev and take it from there. Wise words which I will take on board.
As ever, he'd probably do alright if we did sign him. He'd be solid enough and I can't see him costing us goals or anything like that but he doesn't really fit into our recruitment philosophy at the moment. Probably be an easier question to answer after next Saturday actually. Shame we're not playing a more credible/relevant opposition. I'm sure he'll be back at the club in some capacity in the future anyhow.
It wouldn't hurt anything bobby coming back, if he's fit enough and playing to standard then great if not he'd be good to have around the club and help the younger players, he probably wouldn't be after a big wage but I don't think LJ has any link with him or if he even knows him so why should he.
