I'm not worried. We had four first team regulars missing yesterday and the first XI still looked ok. I think we'll be fine and despite us only signing four players, that's a lot more than some sides in our league.
Vital: 1 right back 1 centre mid 2 wingers (or 1 if Lalkovic stays - he's come back the most fit player, and has some talent) 1 striker Useful: 1 left back Another centre mid, depending on Digby & Abbott Another striker Maybe even another centre back if Holgate goes. I'm not too worried: we've got a few on trial, so if LJ reckons they're up to it we'll be close to that minimum five signings. The Holgate money could also spark a quick signing or two. I think the spine of our squad is of a really good quality for this league, but we need to top that squad up ASAP.
IMO To stay in the division: LB, CM, CM, RW, LW, ST To realistically challenge for promotion: GK, LB, RB, CB, CM, CM, RW, LW, ST, ST (the vast majority being experienced pros)
Can Smith be expected to play and perform in every game as an 18 year old? I consider Nyatanga to be an emergency option there rather than it being his regular position.
I think smith is good enough now,and he'll improve for games, Tempelton is a good un, I'd take another, but don't see it as a priority.
RB CB ( Only if Holgate goes ) LB ( Cover for Smith as I can't see him able to pay 40 - 50 games in a season at 18 ) CM x 2 Winger x 2 ST
Well we needed a dozen players in the summer according to the manager. Since then we've brought in four so we need eight. But we've got rid of Berry and Jennings so we still need 10 players. If we lose Milan, Bailey, Mason and Turnbull you better make it 14 new players we still need.
I think anyone who doesn't have their head up their arse can see we're going down the mass loan route again, I just get the feeling the players out there that can improve us are out of our reach wage wise, and don't want to commit to a longish contract on the terms we can offer so we're bringing them in on loan instead, maybe get a couple out of contract players once it gets near to window closing .
