Read today that those accused have all been cleared of any wrong doing that day. No national articles to clear there names or faces and not seen anything on here so just thought it was fair to the lads involved to put something on here.
http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?229278-FAO-Nightmare-Tyke A lad on twitter says he knows a couple of them and four cleared their name after speaking to the old bill.
To be fair, Paul of Matchday Drinkers (funnyfella on here) was tweeting from the train home from Stalybridge on Saturday, saying that reds fans were singing IRA songs, songs about germans and aiming a racist chant at an asian man. And I've been on many a train home with reds fans who've been singing similar stuff. Alcohol and peer pressure. But if these lads cleared their names, then I expect the Mirror to apologise considering they published an article calling them racist Barnsley fans.
I hope this thread and news gets as many views and attention as the original article. Everyone was super quick to jump on these lads, call for the strongest possible action and criticise everything about them. Suddenly it appears that once again, a set of football fans has been unfairly accused of criminality. It'll happen again though, more mug shots, more calls for life-time bans. For every idiot partaking in hooligan-esque behaviour there are plenty more unfairly tarred with the same brush.
Was told some of our fans wouldn't let a 70 year old couple of the train after (i think) Chesterfield away last season. Kept them on several stops. They were terrified to leave the house after that experience.
When you say cleared, do you mean they were charged and then found not guilty in court, or have the police decided there's not enough evidence to prosecute anyone?
There are more options than that mate. Could have been mistaken identity or maybe no crime was actually committed by anyone.
True, I didn't know anyone was actually charged for this. For them to be 'cleared' would indicate that someone was. Although if no-one was charged, it's a bit like saying the Police at Port Vale have been cleared of any wrong doing.
I think the op used the term cleared because all the lads had their photos circulated in the press and on the internet. The Daily Mirror certainly made them look guilty. They've now technically cleared their names, although not in reality as I doubt the press will be running the photos again stating that they have no charges to answer. I was actually on the train in question. I didn't see or hear anything untoward, which doesn't mean it didn't happen, but I was surprised by the extent of the police presence when we reached Bradford as there weren't many people on the train. We were all filmed and photographed.
Were you told by the same mysterious witness who informed you that tangz and jp cryne were getting bullied on a train...
