Does it seem too fanciful to imagine an exchange like this:

"This club has a cracking Academy and the coaches there know what they're doing. We (Man U) missed out on John Stones, who must be a £20-30M player by now. We should have had him. The lad Holgate is promising, although he needs building up. Digby has shown nothing for Barnsley, but the England U-19 coaches rate him. I'd advise we have a look at the two of them. If they're any good, we could take a gamble for little money (a million apiece) and we might just unearth something. The funds will be welcome to Barnsley. Yours, Maurice."

    Unimaginable?

Or, as I posted yesterday, Maurice may have arranged this to complete their education. On how good they actually are.

Don't be silly. Our chairman obviously does things to benefit another club, as opposed to ours.

For one, I think that Mr Watkins is only doing business to benefit us at this point in time, but I wouldnt have a problem with him trying to get them to Man Utd. £1m each of those would be amazing to be honest, and they'd never be worth more playing for us. That's just how it is.

Or maybe we get 2 kids on 6 month loans in exchange? Man Utd pick up the wages and loan fee so no cash changes hands?

If you're not taking the piss you need your head checking.

We'd be lucky to get £100k for him.

FFS I'm glad glad you lot are not football scouts... I remember according to many
Trippier was ***** and slagged off (1st loan spell) he returned and given time proved himself.
Chris Wood, you striker on loan. Didn't score on his forst touch and so he got written off. Moved to Leicester, supported by fans and scored for fun.
Butterfield and Hourihane talented, creative players, with good goal return and assists. But yet they got floods of abuse on ere and on terraces.
Digby at just 20, has been written off by many of you. But is admired by Top coaches in the country. We all believed he would be future of BFC when he made his debut aged 17. But since then he has suffered with injury. In past few seasons he has played little first team football, no more than a cameo appearance in a team struggling for confidence. When he himself is looking to build confidence by playing. IMHO he should have been loaned out last season to regain fitness. Keeping him here just zapped confidence.
Criticism he recieved last season unjust, if he played a run of games and did not improve fair comment.
