Good grief. The only loyal people on the game are the fans.

The fact you disagree with me gives me comfort.

Except the ones who decide they're not going anymore because it's not going so well. Or because we're not signing a certain quality of player. Or because they don't like the manager. Fans are loyal when they choose. That's not loyalty, they just like to think it is.

Bobby was loyal to bfc and deserved a lot more than 3k people there today.

I'm just surprised they don't say that attendance is "undisclosed"...

Don't want our rivals knowing how much money we make from gates ;)

    Bang on.

I don't and never will play that game of decrying someone else's attendance etc. But if you're a tarn supporter, were able to attend and thought owt of Bobby Hassell you'd have been there today.

But apparently, the cricket/tennis/golf was on.

God forbid those with that mindset ever post owt on here about loyalty.

Even more disappointing that the Bobster left over a ear ago.

Got there late, as always, so got a good view of the East Stand with everyone in it (apart from us). It looked, as the attendance figures suggest, less than half full.

Travelling hundreds of miles on a Tuesday night in the middle of winter to watch a game of football year in year out is a judge of loyalty to BFC.

I could have gone yesterday but chose not to as friendlies are mind numbingly boring. Good luck to the bloke in what ever he does and he's been a good player for the club but that's where it ends for me .

The fans are loyal not the players . The players get paid to stick around for 10 years ,we have to pay for the privilege.

Trouble is we are now in holiday season now that schools have broken up. So lots away on holiday. Even against big opposition preseason that would have been a good crowd.

Great day, east stand lower looked plenty full looking from corner by the disabled stand. Couldn't see up top. Good atmosphere too.

I could have gone, but decided to spend the day with my wife at the Yorkshire wildlife park, but I will still probably spend my hard earned on some games this coming season providing the entertainment value is there.

Whitey makes a good point, and I usually don't agree with him because he's a massive foreheaded Jacob Butterfield loving gimp who enjoys long walks in the countryside with Ben Mansford.

Bobby Hassell didn't just give 10 years to Barnsley Football club, he devoted his time to Barnsley as a town and a community.

Most players would be off in a heartbeat if they get the slightest hint of a better offer from another club.

I think our crowds have held up amazingly considering the dross we have had to put up with and continue to do so.

I heard yesterday that before the game Bobby said if he got 3k there he would be over the moon. And that was from a member of the committee

My last game was Sheffield United at home, and after witnessing that dross and deciding that clearly the season was over at that point in terms of a play off push I chose other alternatives on a Saturday afternoon.

Hopefully this season will offer more, but im not getting my hopes up until we see more activity in the transfer market.

    Bobby didn't.

That's why he is held in such high regard.

Agreed most players would. Which makes it even sadder that when we have a rare player who turned down better offers to stay at Barnsley because he was loyal and loved the club there were thousands of fans who couldn't be arsed to give a couple of hours today thank you.

Which has nothing to do with Bobby.

Today was a chance to show how we fans felt about his loyalty to the club, and the town.

    I'm not saying it has.

I'm just relating Holgate's conduct to Ponty's ludicrous comment about fans not deserving loyalty.

The last time I went to a testimonial was a Eric Winstanley's and we played Man Utd in front of about 5,000 and we were still in the second tier at the time.

I don't think 3,000 to see Mansfield Town in July is too bad.
