Remember Jon Walters on loan? Was at a fans forum with Gudjon and people were complaining about Walters (I don't think he scored for us). Gudjon said he had given a list of players to Ridsdale and stated these were the players he was after in order of priority. Walters was 21st on the list, and the first we could get. That is what LJ and Ben are having to work against. We aren't a fashionable club, and we can't afford fancy wages.
Not really surprised people aren't happy about the idea of Forte signing. In this thread alone we know...... 1) He's a journeyman. 2) He's one good season in around a dozen he's played in. 3) He's prone to injuries. 4) He's on a bit of a goal drought since turn of 2015. I wouldn't want Johnson to be like Keef for signing lots of players he's known before.
Has anyone put two and two together regarding his apparent goal drought last season? So he scores for fun when LJ is in charge and the goals dry up when he leaves.
Well, I did say in my post that he'd scored 15 goals for 'LJ'. I was wrong like, it was 14. We're Barnsley in L1. If we're having to look at lads like Forte it doesn't come as much of a shock to me. I'm not sure he's reight good or owt, but when we've got not many forwards to choose from, then I am also not shocked that LJ 'might' be interested in a lad he got 14 goals out of in this division last season.
Re: Remember Jon Walters on loan? One thing I am still waiting for... I am sure last Season Ben on an interview with Radio Sheffield noted that he would come back once the transfer window is closed etc, he would come back with the list of targets which would show how successful we had been. That said, this would indicated we got everyone we wanted, and as such would now look in bad light.
Re: Remember Jon Walters on loan? But we are at this level... Outside of the blunts wigan who else is there...
No we can't have been we're still 7 players short surely we should have got to some players willing to commit to us by now if we had been doing.
Sheff.Utd have been trying to buy Billy Blunt for over a month now.Theres more to transfers than saying we want you sign here now.You place your bids then the player decides.Until the player makes his mind up you pursue and if its a no you then move on.Its about patience. We've shown that with our first few signings. They all had other options but eventually made there minds up to join us.If we tell players to sign now because the fans demand it they most likely told us to shove it.The players have rights to explore every option available to them.
That's what we've been doing, what we always do and always will for goodness sake. You've just made all your posts this summer irrelevant, if they weren't in the first place!
Maybe Players/Agents are waiting for the Stones sale to go through knowing they can try and get more money off you if you get your windfall? Just a thought.
Re: Remember Jon Walters on loan? He'll turn up with a list of players we've signed and say, "look how successful we are!"
I get the feeling it won't be a windfall. It'll be dribs and drabs. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
