Me too. He's a good player and from the academy. I want such players at our club. We've much more chance of him staying if we have him training with the first team squad, pick him for games and treat him with respect. The lad showed some ambition by not signing the first contract waved in front of him and saying he wanted to play at a higher level. Good, that's the sort of hunger I want to see from young players. What we've got to do now is convince him that he could play at higher level with Barnsley. If we're not willing to do that, we don't deserve him. We might try, but fail, and he chooses to go elsewhere. Such is life, but you've got to at least try.

Only if they've found where his milk cart is!

If he's been puffing and blowing like when he plays for us, the Man U staff will have been falling about!

Play at a higher level, or hang about the training ground of a higher level club on higher level money, if he wants to play first team football he's should have signed the deal we offered, anyone who thinks he'll play for Villa Swansea or United or as daft as him

If he's going to stay, he needs to sign a new contract so we can maximise his transfer fee when he goes.

If not, we should sell him ASAP for whatever we can get.

No hard feelings from me either way. It's just business.

    It is.

I'm seeking to push the envelope this season and maximise the throughput on the football side of the operation.

    Be proud. Be Barnsley.

Maybe the offer we made him was a load of rubbish?

What if he's looking at what's going on around him and thinking, am I really going to make an impression playing in this side?

All we have is press reports that other clubs are interested in him. Holgate, at the end of the day, came back ready to play for BFC and got sent to play with the reserves - whatever the reason for that. Seems like an odd way to treat a player you want to keep to me, looks more like we're desperate to cash in on the rumoured interest and might well end up looking silly if it doesn't come off.

You're just guessing, button moon head was told by Benjamin that he was offered the same deal as all our youngsters Bree Smith Digby Daveis were happy enough to sign so it can't have been that ***** of a offer.

Of course I'm guessing, so are you. But rather than assuming he's 'daft' I consider it equally possible or likely that the club is at fault in bringing about this situation.

And for what it's worth, I don't believe a word that comes out of Ben Mansford's mouth, especially when he's preparing 'information' to be passed out through a supporter, rather than in the press. That's no slight on him - his job is to spin things in the clubs favour.

Well that could mean we have a signing then, even if its an extension its better than where we are now

I don't think I've ever known a situation whereby so many people have opinions about the actions of either a player or the club when we have absolutely no idea what has actually gone on between the player and the club. Could be that the club have made a derisory offer and are trying to force him out. Could be that he's got ideas above his station and is trying to force a move himself. But it could be neither. I think we all need to calm down a bit!

Unfortunately, Johnson appears to have made Holgates position untenable

I doubt that it's Johnson's doing. Would've thought something like this would come from higher up.
