Anybody know if there are any plans for the building opposite the bus station? The one with the fish place, Gregg's and the arcade in it?

What happened to the Tuscan Hill village look and all that crap that Houghton and that architect spouted about.

All that was scrapped even before the recession kicked in years ago. Keep up. Perhaps aim any criticisms on the way this lousy rotten govt. attack Labour controlled councils like Barnsley with their budget constraints. Then again, judging by your past political posts, that's unlikely to happen.

All councils have faced, and are facing, massive budget cuts due to reduced funding from central govt. It's not just Labour councils.

Not all councils are cuts - funnily enough some councils of Tory ministers are getting increases of up to 3% while some councils with large inner city poverty are receiving cuts of up to 28%

Since the coalition began all councils have had funding cut from central govt. Harrogate, very much a tory council, have had a 50% reduction.

It's wrong to say only Labour councils have had cuts.

It only cost the tax payers a small £250,000 if you believe Steve and his buddies. I wonder how much he got out of that ??

All have faced cuts since the austerity measures introduced by the coalition. Some have had small rises since but I'd be confident in saying all are on reduced budgets in comparison to pre-coalition.
