With the addition of Williams to the squad do you think our 1st choice 11 as talented and exciting as it looks will be physical \ strong enough to cope and succeed in league 1. This is not negative just interested in others views. I think other sides like Preston last season succeeded due to there physical presence on the pitch and that's the best way out of this division even if it's not the most entertaining thing to watch. mk dons weren't exactly a physical side neither were Swindon. I suppose you have to be prepared to mix it sometimes though
Nyatanga Mawson Roberts all decent sized centre backs with scowen and Pearson terrier like in midfield I think we've got enough to mix it with most in this division.... All the young lads we've got hopefully we will be to quick for other teams.....
Id say league one has moved on since the last time we were here, much better football and less physical, its not something im particularly concerned about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think we're lacking height more than physicality/strength. With the exception of our CBs and Conor Wilkinson I don't think we have an outfield player over 6ft? Pearson, Scowen, Williams and Winnall aren't afraid of getting stuck in. They'll put themselves about, they're just not going to win many headers.
Aren't both Rothwell & Watkins over 6 foot, too? Assuming these figures are accurate, of course. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-rothwell/profil/spieler/183293 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marley_Watkins
He will be better this year if Johnson plays him correctly.... Two nippy wide men for him to play the ball to and get in and around the box to finish with the security of Pearson and scowen in behind to cover!
I think we will start with a team that's more physical than last year. Mawson and Scowan are certainly more physical than Crainie and Treacy.
I started this thread in July and looks like it was true. With all the players out of contact or loans finishing a overall of the team may be the only way out of trouble and try to bring in some big ugly type players or do you think another manager can do better with this squad? I think the players are trying for Johnson and this shows with the late goal today, performances away at cov and pboro but we are just not a stong enough team. Sorry for being a knob and bringing back an old thread. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
He was as good as what we have now but that's not saying much Do you think the squad would be a lot better under another manager or will they struggle as well. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
I honestly believe that with different guidance under a new manager there is enough potential to get us out of our current mess. There is a losing mentality at the club which we cannot shake off until we change things. Unless we try one will never know
I agree we need a new manager but still think we need 7 new players 3 defenders, a winger, a big striker, a centre mid as cover for scowen and a goalkeeper +keeping hammill. The team is just not strong enough, experienced enough or solid enough any body will struggle we are just too easy to play and score against and that will still be the case when LJ is gone. Assuming LJ remains in charge would you trust him to bring in the correct players based on his current track record of recruitment?
I honestly don't think he has had much say, big bad Ben pulling the strings with is old agent contacts. I'm not defending LJ at all there but there is a lot to change for our club to get back to a decent level not just a manager change but that is a start. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Erm no they aren't especially if you have watched us much this season. We aren't anywhere near physical or 'professional 'against other teams
