Some posters on here are saying that Lee Johnson is waiting to see what happens with the Jon Stones transfer before LJ is allowed to gauge what level of player he can bring in. But in the longer term, is the income from this transfer money going to benefit Barnsley Football Club? One swallow doesn't make a summer - and neither does one single injection of money make a football club. What Barnsley Football Club needs is a prolonged injection of funding to 'prime the pump' so we are able to compete in League 1 and then when we get into the Championship be able to compete also in that league. On the evidence so far, it is evident that Pat Cryne hasn't got the necessary buying power to make this happen. Consequently if we do get into the Championship we will again be anchored to the bottom six in that league like we were last time around. This scenario greatly undermines the fans enthusiasm for the coming season. If this happens then it is likely that more and more fans will abandon the club. We cannot afford for this to happen again, we need an owner with sufficient buying power to get the club back on its feet, which will then ultimately bring back the fans. We all appreciate and admire Pat Cryne for what he has done for Barnsley Football Club. I, like many others, would find it distasteful if fans started to turn on him for all the hard work he has done for the club. My concern is that this may well happen over time (and there has been signs of it on this message board over the last few weeks) especially if the club repeats what has happened to it over the time of his ownership - that is to say, euphoria of promotion to the Championship only to find that the following season, and season after season after that, we are left floundering at the bottom of that league. An opportunity has arisen with the imminent sale of Jon Stones. It maybe a once in a decade opportunity. For the sake of the club and the town I would urge Pat Cryne to take this money, to recoup some of the money he has spent on the club, and in the meantime find another owner that is capable of taking the club forward. If that owner is a Milan Mandaric type that can sell the club onto a new owner then so be it.
1. No one will turn on pc, get odd keyboard warriors on here but around tarn never hear a bad word spoke about him. 2. He has made a couple of mistakes but the club is moving forward compared to this time last year we are in a better position 3 I wouldnt want mandaric or anyone like that who dont give a **** about the club just out to line their own pockets
The club is not 'moving forward' and it hasn't been doing for the last 10 years. We are sort of 'treading water'.
Yeah, it's time for Pat to jog on. We must have dozens of billionaires lining up to splash the cash... Haha - nice one Nudger, you almost convinced me it was a serious post!
We are barnsley where do you see us in five years champions league? And another thing stones wont leave everton this summer
Mr Cryne has not on Y kept us afloat but also tried to keep us competetive. I'm sure he would step down, but only if a suitable owner comes along. So do you know any because so far the cupboard is bare in terms of rich owners
Pat has always said that he would sell if a credible buyer with the best interests of the club was interested but there aren't any, or so it would appear. Until somebody that Pat does trust to buy the club approaches him then we already have the best man available.
Yes it is serious - at the rate of which fans have, and are, losing interest then I would say it was very serious
The club is always for sale, Patrick has been very clear about that. He will only sell if it's right for the club however. There hasn't exactly been a stampede. Cool yer jets nudger it ain't going to happen
I'm afraid I disagree young nudge. We can rebuild with pc at the helm . He knows the club better than most prospective buyers and he knows what we want as fans. Some may say that's a naive response but this thing needs nurturing and caring. With any money we might get if stonesy is transferred I'd rather trust that with Patrick than some chicken farmer, tuna fisherman or sand sheikh. At the heart of our club we have a guy who cares passionately about our future. We shouldn't lose sight of that. And by "we" that includes the wonderful keyboard warriors on here who think they can do a better job. Incidentally I also think that this site does wield some influence within the club. Rightly or wrongly. Careful what you wish for my friend.
I think that is because any potential buyer has not been credible. I have no doubt in my mind that Pat would sell if the right person wanted to buy us. Pat loves the club and wants to see us progress as much as we do.

I'm struggling to find the right words to respond to this post. Disingenuous and **** stirring come to mind.
So how do you think he wants me or any other poster to refer to him in future posts? Serious question . Hope to fcku it's not "Lord" or "the emperor" or "commandant".
Having read this forum for a long time I feel I have to finally make a comment, especially as it does appear that the club do monitor this forum as a sort of straw in the wind of supporter feelings. Consequently...I wish some people would engage their brain before posting. This thread is a prime example. It's been common knowledge, re iterated for years, that Patrick Cryne would like to sell the club. To the right bidder. Clearly that bidder hasn't materialised. In the meantime I'm more than happy for him to retain control. He's no billionaire and he, and the board, do make mistakes. BUT..we're not Real Madrid. We are always likely to have cycles of moderate success followed by periods of struggle. That's the nature of the club. I'd far rather we had someone in charge who has the best interests of the club at heart thanks very much!
I dont think there will ever be anyone out there Mario who will meet his criteria and personally if I were him neither would anyone meet mine.
