Did you have an 'original' version of windows or a dodgy one using 'Daz Loader'?

Does it also give you new keys so that you can install on a new drive? Thinking of upgrading to a SSD.

Does it look more like windows rather than the abomination that is Windows 8 ?

Re: is it free to upgrade?

I think I heard it is free for a year.
That then beggars the question, after a year can you uninstall it if you don't want to buy it or are you stuck with it?

Re: is it free to upgrade?

it looks good from what i've seen. not enough to make me switch like. but windows users should be happy. then again, it couldn't have possibly been worse than the spectacularly $hit windows 8

Re: is it free to upgrade?

Windows 10 is free if you load it in the next year, following that you will have to buy it. Business customers have to pay now. Once down loaded you do not have to pay in future years, but will get free updates. They do not intend to produce a version 11, but will just produce free updates for Windows 10.

Re: is it free to upgrade?

It means that there is a 1 year time slot where you can get it for free (forever). After the year is up, people who want it (who didn't get it within that year time frame) have to buy it.

I think that they counted 8.1 for 9.

Re: is it free to upgrade?

    That was probably Windows 8.1

--- I'm really interested to know though what happens if you need to format/re-install in a years time. It seems like the update is built in (as most Windows updates are). I'd personally prefer to download an exe/zip to save just in case.

Would imagine if you have requested the update and received email confirmation then you should be able to download again
