Tuesday night over 2000 "migrants" (as described by the BBC) forced entry into the Channel tunnel complex in an attempt to get to England causing huge disruption. They are NOT asylum seekers and nearly all single young men. People legitimately fleeing persecution and terror would not leave families wives and children behind.

When are the French going to do something about this as it is getting out of hand.

If I broke into the Channel Tunnel complex at this side repeatedly I would expect a custodial sentence.

Armed sentries either side of the tracks would do it. Take down one or two - shot to the knees or something and the rest would run in fear. Too draconian? I don't think so.

it would not need that matey

Rubber bullets and Tazers added to a few 'Rhodesian Ridgebacks' would totally suffice

I'd advocate them being hung drawn and quartered. Then we should hunt down all their family and friends and poison them before dancing happily on their graves.

I feel that the only way to solve this problem is to open the tunnel for then once a week. Let them freely walk through the tunnel. But flood it it when they are halfway.

yes, at that time I read em all. They also wanted coppers back in 1950s uniforms, give them bikes and bring all troops home from abroad to be armed guard at all entry points, ports etc to the UK. Cant remember the Labour or Conservative details as they weren't as profound.

None of that sounds unreasonable! Too much of our defence budget is wasted on policing dusty hot spots. Be nice to see it channeled to the Home Front, keeping those of us who are law abiding safe and keeping those who are not OUT.

Maybe give the police top of the range electric bikes though, to give them a bit of help on the hills.

Re: Connected to this...The fast track migrant policy has been declared illegal .....

...again!"The system was sometimes used to handle clandestine migrants, such as those entering via the English Channel ports, whom officials thought had no case for refuge.

But a string of legal challenges over the past year eroded the power after complaints that many of those being put through the system had suffered torture or had other justified cases for humanitarian protection. "

FFS!! If they are legitimate they should be claiming asylum LONG before they reach the Channel Tunnel!! Do our 'learned judges" not study geography at school then, are they senile or simply regard 'due process' more important than common sense? Also, ANY Legitimate refugees fleeing persecution and torture should claim asylum in the 1st 'safe' EU country they arrive in not wait 'til they make it to the UK. Just proves many see UK as an 'easy touch'

All this EU 'freedom of movement' propaganda is hogwash Everyone with the financial means to support themselves should have that right but it should not be a free-for-all for anyone to just turn up expecting free hand-outs.

FAO Pompey-Red: A 'Migrant' I am in as much as we now live in Italy, pay taxes here, claim no benefits, pay our Italian NI and had to prove we were financially self-supporting to obtain residency permits. These are only valid for 5 years after which they become permanent .

Finally, 90% (official figures) of migrants arriving in Italy are young, single males - NOT refugees but Economic migrants.
