I really do think LJ his getting a great side together The young lad from arsenal looks fantastic Cannot wait for the season to start Roll on Chesterfield away Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Isnt he another loanee? The thing that concerns me is we seem to have started with a plan to build a side with loans from the start rather than trying to build a team then fill in the gaps with loans - or am I missing something?
Looks like he will win free kicks and he might be that right footer to complement hourihaine taking them....
Maybe if we plan the loans from the start, rather than living in denial that we don't need them, it means we've got a better crop to pick from and are not running around panicking looking for anyone left who hasn't already gone as per usual?
My thinking is that they are at least longer than a month and when they're from Man U and Arsenal it's not like we were ever going to get these players under any other circumstance.
I'd rather sign loanees now and just have say these four for the season (not that that will definitely happen) than mess around with emergency loans when the season starts Can't see us signing any more loanees before start of season so we can keep the final space for if there really is an emergency such as both keepers injured
Re: I completely agree Thing is,there is little difference between signing a player on loan for a season and giving someone a 1 year contract. If the loanee gets injured or is rubbish we terminate the loan. If the one year contracted player is rubbish (Treacy, Lita, Hemmings) we're stuck with them. The loanee could well be cheaper too, in the long run, if we can get players in whilst only paying a fraction of their wages. Of course, there is always the problem that we may lose a loanee in the way we did with Drinkwater, but I'd say we have more chance of losing a contracted player in the January window, if he is doing well. I cannot imagine that Arsenal or Man United are going to want to sell the three players we have on loan from them just yet and they don't need the money. They're with us to develop with a view to them using the players themselves. However, if Winnall knocks in 20 goals before Christmas we'd have no chance of keeping him beyond January. Teams in our position have to use the loan market nowadays, so it's really just a case of hoping we use it well and have done our background checks on who is coming in. More like Pearson and less like Kiwomya please.
The problem is he's not getting a good side together he's temporarily signing a few talented young players who may or may not gel, who may or may not settle in and even if they do how long will it take? And then we've the same carry on in January.
