I don't get the point to this thread, CT isn't the only one to have questioned the clubs recruitment strategy and why is not being comfortable with building a team around loan players seen as negative? I hope our loan players tear the league apart, i'll be the first to say I was wrong but as things stand, without the benefit of hindsight, I'd rather we didn't have so many. I always see loans as a means of plugging gaps when things start to go wrong or get stretched, not a means of building a first team in July. I'm not being negative, I'm just a little worried that we're doing exactly the opposite of what the club has been saying for some time.
The loan signings are as you say to plug gaps and I'm sure everyone would agree that if we could feasibly bring in a permanent player instead of a loan signing who is as good and adhere's to our new recruitment plan then it would go against everything the club has said. However it's apparent that we can't bring in these sort of players permanently just like that, so instead of spending money on panic buys and passengers we look for the quality in the loan market as it's beneficial for both clubs and is less of a risk for our club as if it doesn't work out we can terminate the loan without it costing us. Whilst bringing in these loans LJ and co will still be looking for ideal permanent players to bring in. If we do bring in permanents just to fill the numbers for the new season and it doesn't work out we've wasted too much money that could have gone on better players we would have found over planning and time. Unfortunately we can't bring in the players we want as quickly as some would like but over time we will.
I agree with a lot of your points especially about the loan players. We need some experience. You can look towards Swindon as an example of a team with very young players, supplemented by loans who did pretty well. The sort of quality experienced players come at a premium though. Your 300 grand budget would be spent on Izale. Bristol City and Preston got promoted using a core of experienced players they also had sugar daddies to fund the purchase of these experienced players. MK Dons also benefitted from the experienced pro. One we were looking to sign but couldn't afford Carl Baker was pretty awesome for them. There seems little point getting in experienced players who are average at best just to fill up squad numbers. I can honestly say I have no real idea who we can attract who offer both experience and a decent level of quality (and to be fair I was underwhelmed by your suggestions). But at the end of the day we aren't paid to do this.
I think everyone in the thread feels uncomfortable with the loan situation mate. But we don't all call it a disgrace. Conan has done nowt but whinge the last few days, it's tedious. As is nonsense about other supporters and their attendance.
Simple solution Andy - don't read any threads that I start. As for other supporters - if they're giving stick then they're going to get it back. Tad hypocritical to have a pop at someone for moan when you have made a choice to actually stop watching the club because you are unhappy with the way things are going.
I like reading your stuff in general, I've always said as much and I do agree with more than you know. But sometimes it grates, pal. I like having a moan myself, but then I soon revert to type and try and look at things positively. Your recent posts give an impression you hate the club. And I can't get that. And I know full well that had we signed Davies you'd be pointing at his career record and saying defenders have got a better goal ratio. Don't even start me on McMahon, chocolate fireguard that lad.
I've always thought the club has the potential to be so much more than it is. For us to finish 11th in the third tier, following on from fifteen years of average to poor performances but to average almost 10,000 is incredible. Especially when we consider the state of the local economy, the number of clubs on our doorstep competing for fans and the ever increasing stranglehold of sky tv. The club could be so much more if the people in charge were making the right decisions. That's what frustrates me and that's why I complain a lot. Maybe I will just have to accept that any potential will go unfulfilled and we are destined to remain a mediocre third tier club. I will have to judge it on this season's performances and seriously consider if I will renew next season.
I'm just amazed it's took so long for folk to realise what defeatist, whingeing, anti-fan the Moanman is.
You sad old f.uck You really are the most pointless person on here. Not one single poster has the slightest interest in anything you have to say. Which int a lot really.
There's laying down the law and then there's laying down the law. A permanent ban for them, 3 years in prison maybe, I'd go as far as making them both dry bum each other half to death being a perfectly fair punishment. But having to listen to whitey narrating a blog? That's a breach of their human rights.
