I'm moving soon to a house with no landline installed, and wondering if I actually need one. I hardly ever use it except for internet, although my missus uses the landline to call her mum in Germany - her mum has no internet so can't use Skype etc. Landline rental costs are rising rapidly, and the new house has a cable connection so will have a good internet connection. There's good mobile reception in the area. I'm thinking of getting a VOIP phone so she can call her mum, and all other calls will be mobile. Any ideas/advice?
All our work phones are VOIP Never any problems there so I doubt there should be any issues at home. Not sure how this reflects for home use mindsthi.
Hee hee, only moving about 150 yards mate, a new house on the old Pheasant site behind the pop factory!
Re: All our work phones are VOIP I assume we'll need some kind of contract so she can call a German landline number. I understand calls to other VOIP phones are "free" (i.e. included in your internet data allowance), but VOIP calls to landlines and mobiles must be paid for somehow. I'll look into it but just wanted to check if anyone else had used them first. Sounds as if it's the way to go.
I might be making a shot in the dark here, but I think there's a strong possibility you may really like our village!
It's the same with Crystal. A Southerner from Rotherham, she's settled here so well she wouldn't live anywhere else and considers herself to be a Dodworther!
Re: All our work phones are VOIP You can make phone calls through skype internationally for stupidly cheap prices, and this works through a VOIP phone. Enter Germany in here for the prices: https://www.skype.com/en/rates/ ...hth...
Southerners are far worse than foreigners. Send them home! But not Crystal who I assume has an indefinite leave to remain visa.....
