Who do we think will be captain this season? As irrelevant as it is in this day and age. I've noticed that Mawson has had the armband in the couple of pre-season games I've seen. Which I find a little strange if I'm honest, especially considering his age and that he has only just signed. I would have thought that Nyatanga would have been a more obvious choice. Or maybe LJ considers Mawson to be the first name on his team sheet, so has it by default? Thoughts?
We need 11 captains on the pitch. But to wear the armband it should be Lewin. I prefer it going to a more senior player who's earned the right as a long serving player. Not a fan of someone coming in and getting it straight from the off.
unless of course Lewin has said he prefers to be a player first and foremost, and not a captain ? Like at my workplace - plenty of folk willing to get stuck in and earn a crust, but a distinct shortage of people wanting to put their head above the parapet and lead things. Each to his own. FWIW I thought Alfie looked a leader on Saturday, without being a loudmouth gobby type.
Think LJ has said that Lewin will be club captain and the matchday captain will be shared out amongst Winnall, Mawson, Hourihane and Scowen Sent from my SM-G800F using Forum Runner
Good to see Mawson putting in some extra training this afternoon, looks like he's certainly putting the extra effort in.
When I played I was always being offered the armband, there was normally someone else in the team who really wanted to be captain though so I always used to pass. It'd not affect my performance with or without it, and I'd still lead without. It inspires some to give more I suppose, I would give my all without it. Maybe Nyatanga is of similar mind?
You don't need an armband to lead, anyone can do it. I think it should be more of a sign of recognition for service. Nyatanga for me.
Club Captain and Matchday captain.. when did this nonsense begin... load of ****** for me. The captain is the captain its that simple... if the captain is unavailable for whatever reason , then and only then should a match day captain be nominated. But one thing I would love to see is discipline... I would like LJ or who ever in the club introduce a system that when a controversial moment arrises that our players would walk away and let the captain sort it.... Y'know like what happens in Rugby... instead of these mass handbags we have in ALL professional football. The Sin Bin would also be a good thing too... and from Cricket/Rugby the blood sub .
Re: Club Captain and Matchday captain.. when did this nonsense begin... Just been confirmed it'll be Mawson on the pitch with Lewin as club captain
then thats total ****** says to me that The do not rate Nyatanga capable of handling it on the pitch.... he seems to be a Trade union rep kinda job... complete and utter ******.
Come on we've seen Lewin play for long enough now to know that he isn't a captain. I imagine he's the type that will happily give you one on one advice off the field. But he certainly isn't a natural leader on the field. We've lacked a captain for years as Cranie was a similar peronality type to Lewin. We need to be natural born leader and Mawson certainly seems that type. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
I'm not saying he should be captain, or that he'd make a good one, but to phrase it the way DT did is why I commented.
