But we are in talks according to Johnson Also says Holgate situation has gone 'above him' but remains a BFC player Williams only injured player for Chesterfield (Ryan) Dibble may go out on loan
Could be a failed attempt, but we are good to go. Jeez I owt to be one of them manager cum Head coach thingys.
Taken out of context like that the 'above him' could be seen as it being out of LJs hands, its worth saying that in the interview LJ is saying he is now spending more time on the training pitch and has been doing that for the last 10 days, which is why its 'above him' now. Sounded very much to me that Ben's doing more phone calls now as LJ hasn't got as much time as he had during pre-season, due to him focusing on tactics and training. LJ also said that BFC would bid for all the loan players we have, apart from Crowley, if they became available and that he is not viewing them as loans, but as potential permanent signings. In a round about way he makes it clear that Crowley is out of our reach with him being so young, but the other loan players are at an age where they should already be in their parent teams first team if they were going to make it there, so they could become available.
True I was just quoting what the RS journalist posted on Twitter. Good that he's training with and anyway and also good that we could sign the loan players if possible. I was thinking that Rothwell could be Hourihane's replacement when he eventually leaves
He's still learning mate. Yes he can pull off some great saves but he can also be very naive and make mistakes. Loaning him out would be the best thing for the lad. The more games he gets the more he learns.
I know what you're saying but think of it this way: If Dibble just sits on our bench and just plays U21 football he doesn't develop If he goes out on loan and plays first team football he develops for us, and we're developing a keeper in Townsend for Birmingham or ourselves if we sign him permanently
It just seems an odd situation loaning players out to loan other younger players in on loan in the same position.
We can't be developing Townsend though or surely dibble doing what Townsend is doing would be developing him instead
I know what you mean, but the problem is in his position he may only get one chance all season. I'd imagine the club have probably taken into account that he'll be away with the Welsh under-21 squad too, which will leave us with no other back-up at times during the season. I suppose it's cheaper to sign a Championship clubs' third/fourth choice keeper on loan, than to sign an 'experienced' keeper who has spent the majority of his career sat on the bench.
All I'm thinking is that for Townsend, being 2nd choice here is better than 3rd choice at Birmingham Anyway he's not our player but by Dibble going out on loan he should be better in the long-term for us
