Is he injured again. Commentators said he was limping. Wouldn't surprise me as we have had no cover for him.

I heard that too. His injuries are becoming a bit of a liability.

I hope it was only minor and he can run it off because we can't afford to lose him.

    Great news.

Maybe if we'd not got about 30 central midfielders we'd have brought in another striker as back up

We can't afford to pay him of he's always injured ...

But our defenders need to buck their ideas up !!!

It doesn't help the defence when one of our best midfielders is shoehorned in at right back.

    Doesn't help the midfield either

Maybe we can't afford to keep waiting for him neither.

Will be lucky to get 20 games a season out of him.

Took a bit of a Knock in second half and was totally ineffective

Seems to be made of glass.

You're right we can't but we what do we do about it; we don't have the funds to replace him, not when he's on the payroll.

I'm not having a dig at you or Winnall but his reputation is far greater than his impact in my opinion. If we want to get promoted we need reliability and that means a striker scoring every other game.

I think we're actually agreeing. I said earlier his injuries are becoming a liability and if we lose him for another half a season it's going to have an impact. I was hoping he was over his injuries and that this season we'd see the player that was so effective for Scunny.

He was fairly ineffective for the entire 90 today. Looked like he kept stretching his calf out too in 2nd half.

My worry is that even when he is fit the formations that we play won't give him the support/platform to get the best out of him. With 2 good wingers and a strong striker at the side of him I think he could score plenty of goals (if fit) but I just don't see us playing that way hence the doubt about things working with him.

It's LJ's job to get the best out of our better players by playing to their strengths however after seeing the starting formation which included Scowen at right wing back I worry we won't get the basics right - again.

Injuries aside Sam plays best with a pacy forward at the side of him. His best form last Season was when he played alongside Coke. Johnson seems to be completely oblivious of this.

He needs to cut down on the weights on his legs, it is ruining his muscles. They may be stronger , but they are too tight and cant take the stress of turning sharply !
Said it before and I am positive about it.
I have had the same thing happen to me and it takes a long time to correct, at my level any way !

Think back to the end of last season he was playing left side of a front 3 and having to track back, with Jabo or Waring being the main striker, because presumably LJ thought Winnall couldn't play the lone striker.
