For me to judge how bad our team were today, or our fans, because I'd been working and so had to listen to commentary. I really like Adam Oxley, so this isn't a dig at him, but the Player service now is not for me I'm afraid. I appreciate that because it was a local game, Adam had to share duties with a Spireites bloke, but nevertheless, it's not what I want when listening to the reds. Constant references to both deedar clubs, updates on Doncaster and Rotherham etc. I stopped listening to Radio Sheffield for a reason. Seems now I've been forced into listening. And lets be fair, it's kind of true isn't it? Did you see a notification from BFC this summer in a change of commentary? No. We only knew about it because Matt went public with his feelings. So I'm now paying for a service I don't like, but I'm paying for it twice. Through a subscription and TV license. I really like the interviews and highlights etc, so I'm loathe to cancel the sub, but I can't see me listening to the commentary so what the **** am I paying for?

The match started so well from the sounds of it, but it began to sound like so many other away games I've listened to on Player over the years after about half hour (only without Matt and Adam, so obviously much worse/pointless). Doesn't seem to matter what group of players we have, nor manager, we capitulate once we concede. But as I say, I only heard commentary so won't bother getting into it.

Most of last season, all summer I've said we could do with some older heads, been there done it. Said the same in that time about our blatant need for wide players, that's both defensive and offensive. Also posted on here prior to kick off that Scowen out of position was bizarre. But I'm not a manager, owner, coach, CEO. Just a supporter. What do I know?

Signing countless central midfielders, then trying to play them in wide areas seems to be more en vogue round these parts than recruiting width, and playing it wide.

I'm hoping this first defeat after all the optimism and build up will push the club into action, and we'll see the sort of players we need added in the next couple of weeks. As I say, I'm not reacting to a defeat, I've wanted these things for months, fingers crossed this setback forces the point home. Losing Holgate isn't an excuse. We've expected his departure all summer, and as I and many of you said on here, we'd be daft to rely on Bree, a young kid recovering from a serious injury.

So aye. Looking forward to us signing another midfielder........

But that doesn't make me against anyone. I'm 100% behind LJ, and grateful to Mr Cryne etc etc. But I'm ****** if I'm going to ignore obvious failings. And getting shut of Matt and Adam, releasing anyone we had with experience, bringing in a raft of young kids, not signing players in areas that blatantly needed addressing.... I can't ignore all that. Soz.

Regards the 'bother' at the game, I'm only going to make the obvious point that incidents away from home like this will only impact us negatively, whoever's to blame.

This Football League show on channel 5 looks **** so far.

    LOL at dem blades though.

    You Reds.

sat at home today and watched rugby, never switched commentary on. I cant stand radio sheffield and their commentary is awful. Considering cancelling Player.

I appreciate the interviews, and full match replays. I also need the subscription so the missus can watch Huddersfield Player. But it felt wrong today, not having Matt and Adam's view on the game, a fans view. Adam and his Chesterfield pal didn't give opinions. That's one of Ben's reasons for chopping the tarn lads - they were too opinionated.

I agree with everything you've put.

There seems to be a thought on here that it's great we've signed Crowley & Rothwell because they're highly rated youngsters but we should be addressing areas where we need players in & not just signing promising talents.

No clue why we need central midfielders on top of Hourihane, Scowen, Digby, Pearson, Williams & Abbott. Go with them 6 & if we get an injury crisis bring a loan or 2 in but we're just wasting wages or having to shunt players like Scowen out of position to accommodate our loan signing's.

I think the reason for BM chopping Adam & Matt was to save a few quid, not because they were opinionated.

It was a bad decision, that's all I know for certain. They offered to do it for nowt which rules the money thing out.

Didn't know they offered to do it free. Wonder why BM chopped them then? Strange indeed.

Should we get some petition thing going to get them back?

Player decision is just very poor. No sugar coating. No hiding behind excuses. Ben, who I have a lot of time for, needs to come out and say clearly we have completely cocked up and I'm sorry. I say this as someone who has never listened player in their life but it's clear as day.

On all other points Mr Whitey is right.

Player is shocking now. I didn't care much for the commentary but it was the adverts for Radio Sheffield that pissed me off 'no matter what your colours' and no summaries after the game. The second the whistle went at half time and at full time they immediately moved over to Radio Sheffield. They even advertised the Praise or Grumble number during the match ffs!

Whitey, I think you should cancel your sub and sign up for the Huddersfield one. You'll still get to watch our content but BFC will know that they've lost another sub.

i listened to the commentary. I'm happy that I didn't lose signal once today.
I understand that today OUR commentary was ALSO broadcast on a BBC station on the medium wave frequency. So they HAD to be impartial.
I'm waiting to see what it's like on a non broadcast day.
For me as an occasional viewer but regular listener I'm not ecstatic, but I am happy with it, it provides what I pay for.

The match report is spot on as I heard the game. And I'm not a happy clapper, and I prefer to judge after more games than a tricky local Derby on day 1 of a transitional season.

Lee needs this season to create, next to push, third to promote.

    Long term plan.

You do realise BBC pays the club to get certain media privileges?

Doesn't make the club's decision right of course. Some things are more important than saving/making a few quid.

Didn't the BBC pay the club before anyway? They already had media privileges. My guess is that the BBC actually pays the club LESS now than they did before as they are giving something to us

Have you listened to the commentary service on a non local Derby match day?
No? Me either! Let's see when we do.... Come on give it more chance than a local Derby broadcast to the whole of south York's.

Found the commentary good to be fair. But was really annoyed when I logged in 5 minutes before, expecting to hear build up, team news etc to hear previews on other games and again at half time and full time cutting to other matches with no analysis on our game. This is not our club commentary
