First thing Monday morning I'm complaining to Derbyshire Police. Totally unnecessary. Couldn't go for a drink, a piss, see my mate 10 yards away. I and another 300+ fans got led like sheep a mile down road to the train station only to be put on a 'special' train that would take us 'directly' to Barnsley, only to get there 2 hours later than the normal train. Not to mention being shoved around at the end and being penned in a small space with every other fan. If we were as bad as we are made out to be it would've been a warzone. I hope they try penning in and pushing 2000 Milwall and Leeds fans about when they visit. I'd happily watch the pigs try removing their truncheons from their arses. C*nts

It WAS a warzone. Fans were kicking and punching the police. The police used the law to hold Barnsley fans back after the game. Debate the rights and wrongs of that if you so wish but ALL the violence and aggression was caused by our idiots who rather than accept a fairly simple request decided to throw punches make threats and generally act like aggressive arseholes

Treated like animals because they act like animals.

So do I but you are blaming the wrong people. The minority of fans (which is way larger than half a dozen) are the ones who ruined your day

The police could have tried the revolutionary tactic of arresting the 14 young lads involved rather than involving the rest of us. Just a thought like.

I don't know if you regularly go to away matches or not. There are about 14 daft kids who on the look out for trouble so terrifying and such a threat to public safety that when my brother tells em to **** off to a different seat if they are going to be idiots they do without saying owt. Undoubtedly due to the tactics employed by the police the tempers of people outside this group got inflamed. The stewards on the other hand were fantastic throughout.

There are far more than 14 idiots at our away games. However if YOU recognise the same 14 every week then you have to ask this question. Why does our box office keep selling them tickets knowing they are going to cause trouble? It's time that the club took action instead of just whining about the police costs all the time.

    I'd completely agree with that.

They are not hard to spot. My 3 year old recognises ( I take her to an occasional less high profile away games) she calls them the naughty noisy boys.

How ironic that you use a childish term like 'pigs' to describe our police officers and then complain at being treated like animals...

We do have some numpties who follow us dont any worse then any other team in this league. Glad I didnt take my daughter yesterday and felt sorry for the people who did take there kids. Should of just let everyone leave when we were 3-1 down or at least let people use toilets and go for a cig. And not only the way they did it there attitudes with people the copper with the beard at bottom of gangway to right was a nob

Why is it so difficult to weed out the 'minority' of trouble causers. After all it's the same people week in week out. It's the root cause that needs addressing and then all the knock on effects like police behaviour, good people kicking off etc will be reduced.

It's like been at school again when the class doesn't get a day out or a treat because of a few nob heads.

In this case all the Barnsley fans been treat like *****s because of a minority's behaviour.

I can't see how yesterday's actions are good for anyone.

All it will do is build up the hostility further & probably turn more against the police.

Unbelievable that you couldn't even go for a piss

Initially you COULD go in the concourse but when Barnsley idiots started kicking off down there they had to close off the concourse. Makes a lot of sense really

As I said yesterday in another thread I heard the stewards at the end complaining about the police actions

Yet you call the police "pigs", "****s" and hope they get their battered by millwall and Leeds fans.

You are part of the problem.

The police handled the situation atrociously.

Yes we have idiots, all clubs do, but why give these folk a reason to kick off by keeping the gates shut?

It was 15 - 20 mins to the end of the game and if the gates were opened then everyone would have been long gone.

Its 2015 not the 1980s and what right have the police to stop people going about their business ?

I wanted to make a quick exit but wasn't allowed to.

All this reminds me of 30 yrs ago during the Miners Strike when the Police stopped freedom of movement .

Unusually I agree completely. It's it that hard to separate normal everyday people from a few mindless idiots. Arrest anyone acting in a criminal fashion. Don't treat everyone standing nearby as criminals. That's not policing with any competency. I'm going to Meadowhell later should I expect to be arrested if someone in the same shop as me nicks something.

There is a difference between an incident where one person does something and THEN the police detain that one person and an incident where the police have intelligence to suggest a large number of people mixed in a crowd are GOING to do something.
