    I didn't get where I am today without recognising what a great comedy writer he was.

    I've read most of his books. Possibly my favourite author

    Always best to watch the TV series first so that you could hear the characters speaking as you read.

    The Henry Pratt stories are superb as well and I never understood why they were never adapted for television.

    Second from the Last in the Sack Race - classic.

    I always thought he was writting about my dad growing up in the heart of South Yorkshire

    "Thurmarsh" was the setting for the Pratt stories, about a young reporter growing up in South Yorkshire, much the same as Nobbs himself working for The Star
